My Pharmacy Are [edit] Helping! [/edit]

Last chance saloon
Hi guys

Spotted this forum, and I've just started Lipotrim so I'm hoping for some support! The hubbie and I are on day one of Lipotrim, and we're committed, but we have other problems.

Neither of us are vastly overweight - my BMI is 27, his is 29. We chose this programme for one simple reason: we love food. We eat very, very good food - no junk - we just eat far too much of it. So we don't want to do diets like weightwatchers, because we don't want to be reducing the contents of our plates to numbers for the rest of our lives.

We don't want to create negative attachments to certain foods. We just want a quick weight loss, something of a system cleanse, then we're going to do some food allergy testing, and go into the rest of our lives being very strict with ourselves and making a commitment so we don't put on weight again.

I started working for myself in April last year and hubbie is in a job he hates - we both lead very sedentary lifestyles, stuck in desks, but we used to be fit.

We're both trying to lose about 2.5 - 3 stone.

Here's the problem: our pharmacist is crap. The pharmacy has only started doing Lipotrim and they have about six people on it. They agreed to put us on it, but basically the girl wouldn't commit to whether she'd let me hit my target weight (a BMI of about 22) or stop me when my BMI hit 25. Same with my husband. Then she gave me 14 packs of female formula and 7 packs of male, which I didn't notice till I got home!

When we went to pay at the counter, there were two obese pharmacy staff and they made jokes at us at how we could have a slap-up meal out on the cost of a week's Lipotrim. Then they looked us up and down and told us we didn't look like we needed to do a diet. One of them was I would say somewhere between a size 18 - 20, (I'm a size 16), and she was saying "Look at me, I'm bigger than you and I'm not doing it."

I'm just really, really annoyed about it. Are we actually kidding ourselves? Should we be on LipoTrim at all? Both of us loved the idea of total food replacement because we wanted to do something really strict, and not drag out a lengthy diet process where you go through phases of guilt and secret binging pleasure and learn a whole load of bad habits.

We don't have the money for the gym and to be honest, with our work commitments, our chances to increase our activity levels won't change for a few months yet.

Sorry this is so long, but I'm really confused now. I never thought anyone would make me feel bad about trying to improve my weight and my health (isn't the whole point of LipoTrim that it's a safe and monitored programme?!), but now I feel like it's some sort of club and I don't qualify because I'm not big enough.

All views welcome, guys - it was a big deal for me to commit to doing this, and I'm all over the place now after the treatment from the pharmacy people. What should I do?

Hiya, I do CD not LT, but to be honest I am amazed at the treatment you received from your pharmacy!

If you really really want to lose weight, I would not let them deter you. You have been accepted for LT because you meet the guidelines they have set, so if you meet them, then in a very black and white kind of way, you probably should be on it, if you have decided that a VLCD is the diet you want to pursue.

Hopefully you manage to make a decision on wat to do, but if you WANT to do LT then dont let them put u off it

Sounds to me like you sent those pharmacy bods on a guilt trip. They obviously feel that if you are bothering to lose weight at a lighter weight than them then they should too! Which they should really, but each to their own and if they don't want to thats fine but they should not be trying to undermine your efforts. Can't comment on the lipotrim as I haven't tried it but I wish you both the best of luck with it.

Good luck guys, dont let these small minded people put you off, just wait till they see you after you have lost your weight.....If you get the same treatment next week I would ask to see the boss and have a quiet word as these people will lose him business if they are not careful.

Good luck I have been on lipotrim for 9 wks now and have lost 52 lbs, so yes it really does work. xx

I understand that the staff at your pharmacy are probably thinking that you and your husband dont need to lose weight but if you have both made the decision to go on lipotrim DONT let anyone stop you , they are just jealous when really they should be the ones doing something to improve thier health .

I can understand why you are feeling confused , I have 3-4 stone to lose and my BMI was 33 , which i have to say i dont understand , ok so by medical figures im OBESE !

I am on Lipotrim and in 2 weeks have lost 11lb , my friends can see the difference in me already and they admire me for taken such Extreme measures .

Stick to the lipotrim hun and you will feel better in yourselfs , dont let anyone tell you , you dont need to do it , the choice is yours and you want a healther lifestyle ... good on you for taking the first step and dont be put off by jealous people .

Good luck on your first week , it is hard but well worth it .

Thanks for the support guys. I did as much research on LipoTrim as I could before I said I'd do it - I even spoke to my GP on the phone regarding the dangers of VLCD dieting. Once he'd grilled me about why I wasn't "just" taking up an exercise regime and utterly changing the way I eat, (who's he kidding) he supported my reasoning.

Himself and myself want to emigrate to Australia in May this year. My visa medical showed me to be overweight, and the visa medical doctor was the one who warned me that while it probably wouldn't affect my visa chances, I should rein it in now before it got totally out of control.

I've had a shake and a soup today, more water than I thought possible and I'm sipping a green tea as I type this, so day one's gone better than I hoped so far. (Hubby's hungry and grumpy so I'm staying out of his way. :) )

The rest of you guys are a real inspiration - as far as I'm concerned, anyone who takes responsibility for their own life and works to change their situation should get respect, not scorn!

Hi there. I really wouldn't let it bother me whatever other people say. It is for me that I want to change. How dare they make comments like that. If it was me I would have let them have it.

This diet works wonders, but you have to have your head in the right place to stick to it. I am like you in the respect that I would rather eat nothing for a short time than cut back for months and have to watch what I eat forever.

Just get through the first 4 days or so and it becomes loads easier provided you don't cheat, but getting past the 4 days is hard.

BTW its good that you have a start on your husband because us blokes do tend to lose it a bit quicker,:) but there is no other diet that has had anything like the results I have had on Lipotrim. Everyone was just Sooo sceptical when I started, but quite a few are asking me about it now.

All the best

Gray

Hi Gray - yeah, both hubbie and I have one benefit from our fitter days - the weight has gone on us evenly for the most part and we've just formed his n hers matching guts in the last year. :) I'm expecting him to lose quicker than me, because he has more muscle mass.

When you put on weight gradually and you used to be pretty trim, you have to make a huge effort to admit that you're overweight. Saying "I used to do spincycling five times a week and I was so fit" is fine, but the fact is when you've gained three stone in just over two years, you're no longer fit!

Hi Slimmer trimmer how are things with you, are you coping well ?
Keep us posted to how you are both getting on.

Hi sonkie

We're doing well! Day three today. Hunger pangs aren't really bothering me. I keep imagining my hunger pangs as little pitchfork-wielding devils in my stomach, and I drink lots of water to drown them. :)

Hubbie is doing well - I was more worried about him than me. He splits his shakes into four servings instead of just the two packs, only mixing the half packs just before he's due to drink them. It's made a big difference to his day - just for the comfort of being 'allowed' to have something four times instead of just twice.

Feeling a bit spacey today, but no dizziness. Phoned the chemist to put in a pre-order for collection at the weigh-in this weekend. They're still behaving like they can't quite believe their employer has decided to run this fad diet.

But you know what? Stuff them. I'm going to catch my weight gain now, shed the extra and make a proper effort not to put it on again in the future.

Not sure if we're in ketosis yet - buying a pack of ketostix today - will let you know!

Thats a great idea to split his packs so he is having 4 drinks instead of the 2. So pleased you are not letting these small minded people stop you from getting to where you want to be.
These staff will get there comeuppance soon enough, hopefully there boss will tell them to do it too as they got weight to lose too......if only eh !

Hmmm - bizarre side effect! Am in ketosis as of yesterday. Made a vanilla shake this morning and weirdly I'm finding it sickly sweet. I don't think I'll ever eat anything vanilla again when I'm done on this diet! Energy levels are up though and I'm not craving food any more. Yesterday evening was rough - that new subway advertisement on the telly is killing me - plus I was watching some show sponsored by chicago pizzas. Still, I resisted, and am feeling rather smug today as a result. :)

Early Weigh In

Early weigh in today!!

Our pharmacy doesn't open on the weekends, so Friday is our weigh in day, but we won't have been on Lipotrim a full week until tomorrow.

I'm down 7lbs, hubbie's down 11lbs!

And the pharmacy were MUCH BETTER!!

The girl who was looking after us last week is on a fortnight's holidays, so who did we meet this week? The pass-remarkable counter staff from last week! Well what a difference a week can make.

The larger sized lady from last week has had a week of reading and learning all about lipotrim so she can do the consultancies. It seems to have changed her attitude completely! She was helpful, interested - I think she's starting to think she'll soon have no excuse but to try the diet herself. She also gave us some paperwork that we hadn't been given last week.

She was assisted by the other pass-remarkable lady from last week who's trying to learn everything so she can start the consultant cover too.

The weirdest bit - part of me felt dead smug when we stepped on the scales and showed up as being overweight with a BMI higher than 25!!! That may sound so strange, but I felt like we'd proved a point - yes we're overweight, yes we want to lose it and yes we've picked a good way to lose it, even if we don't "look like we need it".

This weekend's going to be a bit difficult for us, because almost all of our socialising normally revolves around food and beer. So we went to Blockbuster and got out three DVDs on the way home from the chemist. :D

Right, time for a black coffee and a bottle of water.

Great results all round by sounds of it, so they have changed then......well you have shown them it is not a fad diet and it really works.....WELL DONE

from ur first post i thought to myself " i bet the counter staff end up doing the diet when they see others quick results!"

im glad u r being treated better. well don e on the fab weight losses!

hope u have another great week

xxxxx

Fantastic weight loss!!!

Well done to you and your husband!!!

7lbs. and 11lbs.:D

Did the Pharmacy give you a lend of the video/cd about the diet as I found it very helpful when I began Lipotrim.

Delighted to hear that they were more helpful and you never know maybe you will influence them to do it themselves.:D

We got the DVD the first time we went and that was useful. This week was all the info about refeeding and maintenance, but also some preparatory bits and pieces we should have got last week. All in all it was useful.

I'm delighted with hubbie's 11lb weight loss - it was the incentive he needed to brave a second week which gives him a far greater chance of proper weight loss and not just a fluid loss where he'll regain everything within a week of eatin.

We went for a couple of flapjacks this week, just for something to chew. Yep, they're awful. Like a home-made bran-flake based flapjack experiment that's gone stale. It's really saying something if you're on a starvation diet and you're still willing to forego some of your rations - I found the last square inch of hubbie's coconut flapjack sitting on the top of the bin this morning!

People have said they are better if you leave them on a radiator or gently warm them a little so they are softer........though that still will not tempt me to try them for a very very long time ....and only if I get desperate to chew something.......lol

well done slimmer trimmer and hubby!

I need a weigh in to spur me on I think, maybe I will see If can go tommorrow instead of tuesday... or would tahat be sillly as it it would only be 5 days on the diet???

I asked for a maintenance sample it came this morning and it looks much more interesting than the usual stuff! tempted, although not sure how much weight I would lose on it...
