is it ok that I am going to be on SS for months?

Yes, you can do it for weeks at a time. You do have to do the 810 plan for each 13th week, but then back to SS again

I wondered this too as i have 6 stones to loose.

So do we do 810 plan for the whole of the 13th week or just one day?? That will be weird eating again!

That's interesting to know, on LL there is no 810 plan or anything and at no point has my LLC said anything about having to take a week away from only having the packs. Of course, I realise that LL and CD are different programs, but still, interesting difference between the two....

As far as I am aware, so long as your BMI is over 25 (meaning you have enough bodyfat to convert into calories to give you energy) then you can do the VLCD for as long as you need; personally I'm on week 18, and I know that others on LL have done it for much longer than that as well!

I have to admit it's always puzzled me as I'd undestood that the week on 810 was in accordance with the NICE recommendation about not doing a VLCD for longer than 12 weeks at a time...actually I think I have just answered my own point i.e. it's a recommendation rather than a regulation.

Maybe LL don't want to introduce the food thing as I get the impression that the psychological aspect of abstinence seems to be emphasised more on LL than on CD but of course I may be wrong about that...

Great pics by the way Pete. :)

my cdc gave me a book about all the plans and maintance stages ask your cdc for one, it's really useful! I do find myself reading it in the bath dreaming of some of the foods haha

I know some of the ladies in the LL sunforum have mentioned "milk week" in the past which is where you make 3 of your 4 packs with milk instead, but I don't think any of the guys had heard about it and it seemed totally optional for the ladies' as well....

oh well, whatever works, at the end of the day we're all losing weight and that's the best thing :)

"Milk week"...lol why does it conjure up an image of those diddy little glass bottles of milk we were made to have in primary school :D Dammit I think I may be showing my age now

lol I had those little bottles too when I was at school, so you're what, early 20's, like I am?
Seems logical to me :) ;)

PS just had a look at your album pictures; looking gooood Serena! :)

Ahem...*cough*...I wish lol!

Aww and thanks for your nice comment about my piccies - I never thought I would but I think I'm turning into a photo whore...a bit like certain other people who I couldn't possibly name ;) :p

Yes. Cambridge really try to keep as close to the guidelines as possible.

If I remember rightly (but I could be wrong here), the NICE people ;) weren't saying that it was dangerous to do longer than 12 weeks, but got the impression it was because they didn't really know how safe it was. As I say, could be wrong.

Having said that, talking about this at one of the training days, we came to the agreement that 12 weeks without 'normal' food might not be a good idea anyway.

When we had to 'eat' on every 5th week (back in my day), people were having mini breakdowns at the thought.

Some people do develop quite a fear of eating if they go long periods on just shakes.

Having said that, I think that many people these days do use the SS+ options more often, so perhaps that's why do don't get so many mentions of people having nightmares over AAM.

Pete. It was interesting about milk week. When it first came out, there were a number of messages from people stating they had to do it, and they didn't want to do it etc etc.

Then there seemed to be a turn to 'we can do it if we like', and 'my LLC didn't mention it'.

No idea why it changed to optional, as that wasn't the impression I got at the beginning. Perhaps LLC had a change of heart having read the NICE 'recommended' rather than put it down as a must, as Serena says.

I used to love my 3rd pint of milk at school. I was milk monitor for a week :D

lol TBH I chose not to do milk week as I really love drinking milk and could easily put away 4+ litres of it in a day :p thought it better not to tempt fate until I have all the mental tools for maintenance at my disposal :D
