Exercise...

Hi all!!

we all know the benefits of taking regular exercise, and not only will it help speed up our weight loss but also make our bodies more toned for those bikinis we shall all be wearing this summer (fingers crossed!!) so i thought id start a thread where we can post what our exercise goals are, what our achievements have been, or even what exercise we have done in the day!

remember, housework, walking to the shops and dancing to a bit of music like a loony all count - so you may be doing more than you think!!

Unfortunately, exercise is not part of my weight loss program at the moment. A few years ago, I used to run, but I broke my ankle, and it took a really long time to heal because I didn't have health insurance at the time and so nothing was done about it. I just wrapped it and tried to keep off it as much as possible. :(

Now that I've gained alot of weight due to medications, and then a baby... I can't move like I used to. I've recently injured my knee, and it keeps getting re-injured almost everytime I pick up my daughter. My hip now bothers me too, as well as the once-broken ankle. I'm hoping that as I continue to loose weight, these body parts will feel some relief and I can start doing yoga again. That's all I can hope for at this point. :sigh:

thats fair enough LR. its a shame u dont have nhs over there, i couldnt imagine having to pay for my doctors!! and if u have injured yourself in the past, i probably wouldnt start exercising until u consult your GP anyway coz u might have to wear knee supports etc. hopefully tho, the more weight u lose, the less problems you will have and the easier you will find it to ease yourself into exercise. both my parents are quite overweight and suffer from bad backs and other medical problems, but if they were to lose weight then they wouldnt suffer as much (although it also stops them from being able to do much exercise in the first place - catch 22!)

dont give up tho! even being more active helps - taking the stairs if u can etc. :)

I go to the gym 2-3 times a week for about 90mins, sometimes 2hrs

thats really good sacha, although i did read somewhere that more than 90 minutes might be over-training? although it might depend if ur doing a mixture of cardio and weights. i went to the gym yesterday, wasnt feeling too good so only did 45 minutes and then 40 minute walk home. hopefully will get more exercise in next week!

I do cardio, exercises using the ball thingy, weights and toning machines...
I went today but couldn't do anything cos I ate too much fruit and had a funny tummy lol!! I did a bit tho! And my O.H and I went on a big long walk today which was good.

thats great sacha, i find even getting out in the fresh air makes me feel tonnes better.

i wont be able to make it to the gym until tues at the v earliest prob wed coz have soooo much work for uni to do... but... i just got a really important essay back and.... i got a first!!! im so happy!! :D:D:D

i have no money to celebrate atm, but after pay day im gonna have to have a night out - il try to go easy tho!

At the moment I go swimming three times a week for about an hour. Swim for 20 mins have ten mins in the jaccuzi then 20 -30 mins swim again.

When I don't have back strain I do an exercise DVD three times a week too and I always have Sundays off.

I am a bit hit and miss with the excercise. I rode my bike to work today though 45mins and I have to ride home (I purposefully left tube pass at home so I couldnt sook out) My aim is to ride 3 times a week for cardio and a body conditioning class (squats lunges leg raises and stomach crunches) twice a week for toning. But will start slow as I already do the 2 classes and I may only ride today and one other day this week.
