Gains after starting exercise

Amyeve

Mummy of 2!

hello :wavey:

im really interested to know, if you gained when you started doing exercise through muscle gain etc - how long was it before it started to level off and you lost again?

i've started swimming 3x a week, i did gain:rolleyes: and obviously i shouldnt give exercise up BUT i felt so awful gaining its put me off. i am going to carry on with my swimming because i know it will help and its lovely to have a bit of time to myself for a change.

from all your experiences, should i expect another gain this week? if i know what to expect i dont think i'll feel so bad.

You have to do a lot of muscle gaining exercise in order to gain weight Huni, such as weight lifting.
I would keep up the swimming as it tones your body and is a low/non impact sport. I used to swim whilst on the SW plan a few years back and apart from my usual gains at TOTM, I never gained weight from it and I was swimming 64 lengths five times a week.

I agree with mrs V, it takes a lot of effort to build muscle to the extent it would cause weight gain. However I would suggest uping your water intake, apparently you have to drink and extra litre of water for every hour of moderate exercise you do or otherwise your body just holds on to all the water and will probably be gaining via water retention.
I usually try to drink at least 3 pints a day when i'm not exercising but up it to about 5 on the days that I do.
Please don't worry about it, and don't give up on your hard work your doing fantastic and the extra effort will show soon.
