Hi
I have been looking at some meal bars and so on on various low carb online shops. The sites show the net carbs figure for each bar. I did Atkins a while back and think that when calculating net carbs you could deduct fibre and polyols from the total carbs figure.
However some of the websites I looked at seem to be deducting fructose and lactose to arrive at the net carb figure they advertise. That can't be correct surely - fructose and lactose are sugar just as much as sucrose or glucose. Low-carb doesn't usually allow milk and that's because of the lactose isn't it?
I don't have an Atkins book anymore - I lost about 3 by lending them out and never getting them back - so could someone tell me if I'm right. Would love to be wrong as just think of all the milk and fruit I could have but I reckon I'm right sadly.
