We got one of these delivered this morning.. Bush Baby Elite RRP £190.00Current Offer Price

With the intention of taking little man walking with it in Tenerife in a months time.

I have just been round the block in it and im pooped!!
The combined weight of carrier and toddler is 29.6lb. I so far have lost just over 27lb (ticker not updated til tues) so it occured to me that this is like going for a walk with just my old body weight.

I managed just over a mile today but my shoulders hurt now.. going to have to train up with it I think :8855:

Anyone know how many more kcals worth you do carrying say 30lb rather than not carrying it?

At least Nicholas liked it, lol. :8855:

Have been looking at these for my 1 yr old. it's a pricy one - having tried it out would you recommend it? I can't try things out here, have to buy them and hope I like them when they get here so I LOVE reviews!

We got ours from little trekkers last week and the price was £144 then! Its gone back up again this week.
Its still cheap here though.. Bushbaby Elite, Baby Carriers at LiliMay Baby UK

The carrier itself seems very good, but I have only had it less than 6 hours so cant give an expert opinion yet, lol.
My son seemed more than comfortable in it, and there is a pillow for smaller babies to fall asleep on. The seat height is adjustable for this too.

Its definitely one for serious walkers by the looks of it, has lots of extra carrying space and a proper sun/rain canopy and rain cover.

I have struggled a bit today, only I think because my son is now 20months and a little heffer and im not used to this sort of weight on my back. I was thinking as I was walking actually that I wish I had got it months ago when he weighed less so I was used to it by now. lol.

The reason we got this one is because I am 5ft 5, my hubby is 6ft4, and this carrier quickly and easily adjusts between settings for these heights.

There are others in the bush baby range that are cheaper and might be better for you if you dont have the height difference we do.

Any specific questions, ask away and I will do my best to answer them. xx

That seems very heavy to me Rach! That'll be a real workout for you.

Still, just think, when I was a Soldier I regularly carried a pack that weighed over 100lbs. :D

You military types
My hubby is the same, he is RAF and found it very funny me struggling with it as for him it seems really light :8855:

Thanks Rainbow. Hubby and I are the same height so I might go for something cheaper. Like the idea of a proper sunshade though as we're in the tropics here (scorching summer down here at the moment) and the little one has learnt to pull his sunhat off.

Just wanted to say hats off to your rainbow.
I have a mei tai sling which i carry around my youngest in, she's only 10 months and weight about 18lbs and I really struggle with it now. I've got a 22 month old daughter aswell (weighs about 28lb) and think I would collapse if i attempted to carry her in a sling, so your a better woman than I, keep up the good work the extra weight will definately get those lbs off.:D

These are the other carriers bush baby make:
www.bush-baby.com - child back carriers - Front and Back carriers for your baby, babies, kids, children, toddlers and infants. Along with clothing and waterproofs.

They all seem to have some sort of UV canopy, the micro ones have this:

As an alternative, we also got a shade-a-babe cover for the buggy last summer, this might help with the sunshine. :D

Bless you, thanks its nice of you to say. :D
I need to really work on it.. today was hard. But we bought the carrier so we could go out for walks as a family and im quite determined to pull my weight when it comes to carrying turns. (Literally, lol) xx

Thanks for the links Rainbow, will check them out. He already has a shade-a-babe - absolutely vital here especially as OH and me are both celtic so baby is very fair-skinned. I'd highly recommend it for anywhere sunny.
You'll be building up a good bit of muscle lugging toddler and carrier about!
