How do you cope with party's/family gatherings etc..?

I went to visit my family on the weekend, we live in the north and they live in the south so only visit at school hols etc..

It was damn hard work. Not the fact I couldn't eat the indian food, sunday dinner and fresh cream cakes......I could cope with that, it was the constant nagging from my parents that I should be eating. Every now and then my mum would try to give me something and I felt bad telling her NO I can't eat it. I'm glad to be back home, back to normal.

I told her to get me a huge easter egg for my next visit!

Honestly? At the moment I avoid them at all costs :( managed my husbands 40th celebrations by having a low fat, protein only meal with the family ( and then only eating half of it) washed down with lots of tap water (the waiters just love it when you order that!). Now I've gone to ground cos its easier - I find it difficult to socialise as our circle of friends tends to revolve around meals and bottles of wine etc. Heck its only for a few weeks (well ok, 14+) but I'm saving loads of meny even with the £36 a week for the diet - this way I'll be able to afford my new wardrobe of SMALL clothes in April :)

Its really hard, my mum was moaning at me at the beginning.

Just tell her all the facts of the diet, how important it is to you... Then hopefully they will understand and stop trying to force food on you :)

I cope by not going!
My motto is that whats giving up your social life for a few months for a whole life of being slim and healthy!
I have given up my social life (well not going out clubbing etc) and all my friends understand. I go to the cinema instead with a bottle of water!!! :) or hang out and play on the wii at each others houses. :D

But explain it to anyone who asks you and im sure they will understand!
