Pasta and Sauces

Can anyone tell me how they make there batchlors pasta and sauces with just water? As i dont want to add milk or butter?

I just empty the packet into a pan and cover with boiling water then put on the hob and keep stirring it til the pasta has gone soft and all the powder is dissolved
