The Beck Diet Solution (a book!) - it might help

Hello hello

It's really long time since I have posted on minis but I wanted to share something that I hope fellow LighterLifers might find helpful.

Several of us are reading a book called The Beck Diet Solution, which is CBT-based and finding it really good.

I remember that Foundation and Development are full on and require a lot of energy and some people may think that the book is better for Route to Management onwards but I am currently in abstinence and still find it relevant.

You can get the book from amazon or you may want to check out the website. I've written about Beck on my blog and a couple of other bloggers have gone into much more detail.

I hope this helps and good luck to everyone.:)

Yes, Beck's early work was an alternative approach to psychotherapy for depression etc; there is an assessment tool in mental health based on Beck and errors in thinking. So if you find the CBT part of LL useful, it could well be a helpful book for returning to f***.

You might also like Albert Ellis "Overcoming Destructive Beliefs, Feelings, and Behaviors: New Directions for Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy", which is a similar approach to CBT.

If you like the TA (Parent Adult Child) activities, Eric Berne's "What Do You Say After You Say Hello?" is slightly more readable than some of his stuff.

(I'm commenting as a former mental health nurse, rather than as a LLer here).

Hi Mr Mini Me and Somewhere Inside

My blog is The Lard Arms (I think it's still in my signature). There are quite a few VLCD blogs linked from mine so if you want lots of details about Foundation and Development, take a look.

Thanks for the other suggestions re: books. It just goes to show how long it is since I have been on here because when I read your sentence:

So if you find the CBT part of LL useful, it could well be a helpful book for returning to f***.

I had to do a double take and think!

Good luck to both of you - AND everyone else. :)

Just popping in to say Hi to Mrs L :D

Miss you on here. Do read you blog when I get a chance though. Fab writing
