can you eat too much on s.world?

I did s.world a few years ago and got down to a good heathly weight, loads of energy etc. then after putting all the weight back on again (why?) i went to ww (again why?) where portions etc were limited, but then found I was hungry and craving carbs and binge eating,
since sat I have been following s.world and eaten loads - stuck to under 10 syns each day, last night i had my quorn fillets with rice and spanish chicken sauce at 5pm - then 9pm made a savoury rice (to use today for kids - cold with prawns etc) but then ate it all! it was a free food, and at least it was not biscuits! but does any one else eat loads?? will I still lose?

Hi Susie,
I eat loads - always have and always will!! I eat big meals and snack on fruit and yoghurt between. I can eat as much, if not more than my OH and if we have casserole or risotto or something like that, I will have second helpings. If I am hungry late at night I will eat again. Free food will not make you put weight on, no matter how much of it you eat BUT.... and there's always a but, the key is to eat the free food when you are hungry and not for the sake of it.
So, in short - if you are hungry then go for it!
Hope this helps!!
Jay

Jay is right. Dont confuse free food availability with eating because its there.
This is why SW is so effective, you can eat and still loose weight!

We got a great tip from our consultant a few months back and it really made me think and I changed the way I was eating! She told us the difference between free food and Syn free food! Free foods are the raw ingredients like pasta, rice, potatoes, meat, quorn etc. Syn free food is the pre prepared foods like super noodle, pasta n sauce, savoury rice, yogurts etc. We were told that you get better losses if you eat more free food rather than the Syn free foods, and they fill you up more therefore you eat less!

The important thing to remember is food, whether it's free or not, has calories. Bottom line, if your calorie intake is too high, it will affect how much weight you are able to lose.

The advice above is good. Eat free foods that fill you up. And recognise when you are full. My downfall has always been eating for the sake of eating. Sometimes it's boredom, or a distraction from something I'm meant to be doing. I have always eaten rather compulsively, whether I'm hungry or not, even when it gets uncomfortable, I still want the taste of stuff and the sensation of eating. It still happens to me and I feel horrible when do it. For me, Slimming World means that I can eat normal food like everyone else, and no one is saying you can only have "this little portion" or this "fake diet version" of that. It's an eating plan that gives me freedom to choose and make decisions that I am comfortable with. And I owe it to myself to use that freedom wisely. If I eat way too much (and common sense tells us when that is happening), I won't do so well. It's my choice.

Am I disappointed with the food that I get to eat? Do I feel deprived in any way? The answer is a resounding NO! Do I feel fantastic and happy about life when I get on the scales each week and another little bit of my years of excess weight is gone? Oh yes!!!

Free food will not make you put weight on, no matter how much of it you eat.

Not to be a pain in the ar$e, but this isn't true.

It's a matter of basic physics that if you take in more calories than you expend, you will gain weight.

Free foods are those foods which have a high "satiety value" for relatively low calorie content - it is extremely, extremely, extremely difficult to eat so much of these foods that it would cause you to gain weight - but theoretically it could happen.

Like I said, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but as Scotty so often told Kirk, "you canna change the laws of physics!"

Fair comment - but you'd have to eat an awful lot!!!! Common sense prevails.....it's all amount eating until you are satisfied and when you are hungry! :)

thanks for all your help, I suppose i should be glad i ate savoury rice not a packet of biscuits!
I think these boards are fab and I think you will see me on here quite a bit now!

A sticky is a thread which is seen as being useful to most people in that particular section of the forum. e.g SW has a sticky for syn values. Becuase it is commonly used it is made a sticky to prevent duplicate threads of the same type of post.

If you go to a particular section of the forum, eg. SW section or CD section you will see the stickies at the top.
