Dropping clothes sizes for larger laddies??

MummyEm

Slowly but surely!
Hi All
I am very happy with my weight loss to date, 25lbs has brought me down to 16st and I havent weighed that since I was a teenager!! However although I have definatly noticed in myself I havent in my clothes as much. I was a size 22 bottom and 18/20 top, im now a 18 Top and 20/22 bottom, should I have at least lost a full clothes size by now? How have you other ladies done? I know it sounds impatient but my target is to be a size 14/16 rather that a certain weight.
Thanks :)

I think with us larger ladies (at the start) it takes a while to tone up and this helps with to get us into smaller sizes, just keep at it. Two and a half years ago I was 19.5st and a size 26(tight) I am now 10.5 and down to a size 12(yippee) Plus I am now on the nhs waiting list for a tt(any day now) Just keep a picture in your head of where you want to be and don't give up, even if you have an off day just get back to it the next day.:character00148:

WOW mylouie you should be so proud of yourself!! I am finding it hard to believe I could ever be a 14/16 and look at you! What diet did you do and how long did it take?

Hi I did it with slimming world and it took me two and a half years. Had a few hickups along the way but I am only human, the thing is not to beat yourself up and keep that picture in your head of where you want to be. :)

i think that you definitely need to tone up otherwise your tummy won't fit into smaller sizes (as i found out myself )

My advice is to do some toning exercises and you will be down to a size 14 in no time :D

When I started last year, 16stone 6lbs, I was about a size 22. I am now 12stone 5.5lbs and am a size 14/16 depending on what clothes I am buying and where from!! I have only just started doing exercise, as I am determined to get to goal by May but it did take longer than I thought! But the important thing is to remember you will get there if you have the will power to stick to it. Dont beat yourself up when you do bad! As I couldnt and cant afford to buy a whole new wardrobe each time I drop a size, I tend to buy bits and pieces here and there in the sales and I tend to buy a size smaller so that I can feel good when I eventually fit in them!

Good luck!

Try not to get too hung up on sizes - they vary so much and I promise you will look loads different even though your size hasn't altered a lot.
I lost about 20lb and was still in the same size jeans, I just looked very different in them as my waist was about five inches smaller! Is somebody taking photos for you? That will show you how far you've come.
Please don't get disheartened about the size labels in clothes, they are a nonsense really. If you look good you look good, regardless of whether your skirt is a 22 or a 16.

when i put on 3 stone in about 6 months a few years ago, i only jumped one dress size, at 20 and a half stone i was a size 22 bottom and a 20 top. now i am 17.13 stone and i am still a tight 20 bottom and a 20 top. depressing! cannot wait to be a 16 but it will probably be another 3 stone away. keep plugging away and you will get there though :)
