Pins and needles????

~missy-moo~

Getting thinner everyday!
Has anyone noticed that they are more prone to pins and needles since being on this diet?

In the last couple of weeks I seem to be geting them at a drop of a hat. Today I even got them in my hand just becasue I was holding the phone to my ear.

'Tis very odd!!!

Snap!!! I get this too Alex whilst on the phone. My hand goes stone cold and tingles with pins and needles!! Perhaps we just talk too much on the phone ;)

haha i get this too.... i wake up most mornings with a dear hand/arm and its never squashed under me or anything!! haha

Also everytime i stand up i feel drunk an hav to close my eyes for a min until the dizziness goes away!!! (not the best look in work!)

That's your blood pressure dropping, Lauren. I get it too.

I just take a little longer to get up. Like sit on the end of the chair for a few seconds and then slowly stand up. Helps a bit.

I'm relieved others get Pins and needles. Was worrying I was having odd symptoms.

Thanks for the replies folks. It's reassuring.

Alex :)

Do you know why our bloodpressure drops? is that a good sign or not?
yeah i will try that thankyou ha, i work in a solicitors, and have all the partners looking at me funny, had to explain i was on lipo, hich confused them even more haha

Not sure why it does on LT. I also get it sometimes when I'm not dieting.

Here's a WWW search on it

"This is a sudden drop in blood pressure when you stand up from a sitting position or if you stand up after lying down. Ordinarily, blood pools in your legs whenever you stand, but your body compensates for this by increasing your heart rate and constricting blood vessels, thereby ensuring that enough blood returns to your brain. But in people with postural hypotension, this compensating mechanism fails and blood pressure falls, leading to dizziness, lightheadedness, blurred vision and even fainting."

Lot's of people get it. I don't beleive it's anything to worry about unless it continues for a few minutes after you've stood up. You just need to get up slower and take care that you don't faint.

I had a simlar thing after I had my daughter. It was diagnosed as a prolapsed (slipped) disc.

Went for physio and haven't had any problems for a good feew months now :party0019:. 'Twas very debilitating at the time and very painful.

fingers crossed that you're on the road to recovery soon. It really impacts your life.

Maybe it is related as I suffer from restless leg syndrome as well. Had it bad on the atkins, when I was pregnant and also occasionally (but not quite so bad) on this diet.

It's when you have an uncontrollable restless feeling in your legs and sometimes it results in your legs spontaneously kicking out.

Alex

Exactly that, I call them 'dizzy legs', it can drive you to distraction sometimes :(

hmm does sound horrible...

But it would be good if some one pissed you off and you kicked them.. "oh sorry i have restless leg syndrome"

hahaha :D

I had a gastric bypass 12 weeks ago and I now get dreadful pins and needles in my hands. It woke me up the other night. I know I am not sleeping on my arm etc as I fell asleep on the sofa with a cat sprawled on my tum and I woke with both my hands just under my chest with the dreadful feeling my hands were so numb. I take meds for high blood pressure and wonder if it is showing an improvement...xx

Yes !
I actually went to the doctors with mine as I would get them just carrying shopping home even if the bags were light or just by typing on my Laptop, they would pop up anytime. Just today I squatted next to the fire to warm my cockles up and had to stand up straight away as bam there the pins and needles were.
Doctor has done blood tests and all came back perfect, even my cholestorol is spot on.
So, I can only put it down to LT, but I dont mind a few tingles, I have never felt better since being on LT, and my health has improved tenfold. :D

same problem "budda" I mean

I have been having thesame problems with cold hands and then pins and needles. Usually p&n related to poor blood circulation to a limb. I know that some of us have been rather cold on LT so our blood vessels will be more constricted,so less oxygen to the limbs=pins and needles,

Thank you all for your replies. It's put my mind at rest.
