i am currently 20st 7lbs, my height is somewhere between 5 7 and 5 9 i am aiming to lose 10 st all together, i am really worried about how my skin is going to be afterwards, my mum keeps saying that because i am young i shouldnt have too much of a problem. I am only 20 but i have had a baby so i do have lots of stretch marks etc. Do you think i will need a tummy tuck at the end of all this? :help2:

I don't know if you NEED one, but at my heaviest I was 13.5 stone and I am now 35...my abdominals are not that bad, but a tuck would do me wonders! A few women over 30 in the gym have had tucks just because the 'baby pouch' in general will not be shifted...and some of them haven't been terribly overweight?!

I'm not sure about that, I think it depends how quickly you will loose the weight if you loose it quick then you might need one.

I needed one before I gained all this weight, due to having kids. I'm 45 and losing slowly, I'll have to see what it's like when I get to target. I don't know how you get one on the NHS, I don't have any savings. I'll still look better with my clothes on, and be healthier, so I'm not letting that put me off. I can always keep my nightie on in bed!! You're young so you should be ok so long as you don't do a crash diet.

Hiya,

Stretch marks are tricky as the skin doesn't bounce back easily. I have marks all over due to being fat and I've noticed my skin doesn't seem quite as ''tight'' as it was before but it's not really saggy or anything. I think it just depends on you as a person, as in.. how your body deals with it. I don't have a flat tummy but it's definitely better than being overweight.

I haven't lost as much as you have to, obviously, but this is the best advice I can give you. You may end up needing it; yes. But then again, you may not.

Oh I'm 21 btw so about your age. Though I haven't had kids, I definately have tons of stretch marks coz I'm sensitive to them; gain weight or grow a bit and I get a major explosion of them. ;-)

Good luck,

x

Ive been worried about the same thing which is why I chose slimfast over a vlcd, I am loosing it slowly and doing lots of toning exercises ans hoping it will help. I want to loose 8 stone and have had 2 10lb babies so my tight tummy days are probably long gone but id rather be slimmer and a bit wobbly than remain a fatty lol good luck x

It's worried me in the past and still does, I'm 21 and have 8 stone to lose, so we're similar!

I have been doing a pump fx class which uses weights during aerobics to help build muscle and tone whilst you lose, this and my age should help a lot, so maybe you should look in to something similar?

I dont know but ive had two kids, got the stretchmarks and a serious overhang, I do not know though until i loose weight.

It's nothing to be seriously worried about as age, tummy stretchability and muscle tone all factor into the baby pouch thing after pregnancy...most of us are left with one even when slim...but with a lot of hard work on the abdominal section I reckon it can be remedied...

I must be very lucky, had 3 pregnancies and no pouch at all, was back in normal clothes 2 weeks after having my 3rd, now in my 50s and still not got one!:D

Just remembered something from years ago. Watched a programme about Patrick Lichfield photographing 2 models for the Pirelli calendar...nude photos but very tasteful. It turned out that one of the models had lied about her age and job. She was actually a mother who 6 weeks previously had given birth to her 4th child! So there is hope out there :D

i have been worried about loose skin too. Have lost 5st since April with SW and have also got post baby sag albeit nearly 10years ago! Although i have the stetch marks and some loose skin it is absolutely nowhere near as bad as i thought it would be and i'm hoping it will be even better when im actually at target. Ive been told that it takes 2months for every stone you loose to tighten the skin although don't know if this is true and have also been told that some NHS doctors will consider you for tummy tuck if you have been able to get a BMI in normal range and keep it there for couple of years??

You've got over 10 years on me so hopefully youth will treat you kindly!!!!
