Gene for overeating!

Interesting reading that although, seeing as it's the Daily Record & the research was being done on the heathen lot north of Hadrians wall, I'm sure deep-fried mars bars had summat to do with the obesity levels ;) :p

(Sound of HD running to the hills)

he he! I know us Scots don't have the best health record and high obesity levels but I guess we're trying to help?!?!

Just watched the Horizon programme of BBC2 regarding thin people staying thin....really interesting and kinda makes me think why bother trying to lose weight if my body is pre-programmed to try and keep me at a certain weight no matter what I do...genetics are a pain in the backside!

yup I watched it too, and it's depressing knowing we can never get rid of the fat cells
Lipo me thinks.
Oh well, must keep on working against mother nature. I know I have a plateau weight of around 14, so if I can lose one more stone I'll be back. But that's still so much

Hate naturally skinny people (me jealous?!)

he he Chele - I know what you mean, I think I must have caught that "fat virus" they spoke about on last night's programme!

Sad but true, fat cells never go away they just stay and wait....!

But, you can still chose to stay slim. The body will try to get you back to it's setpoint (BTW, it's not all to do with how many fat cells you have). You just don't have to comply with it ;)

Hi KD - good point and one raised in last night's programme. It is a case of fighting against mother nature but it's our choice and I choose to lose the weight and not let the fat cells get big again and stay slim!

Thanks and well done on your weight loss - it's fantastic!
