Help my hair is falling out, I did read
somewhere that you can take a suppliment whilst on this type of diet.

My husband noticed first then my hairdresser. It has just started to happen
over the last six weeks. Been on the
diet since Mid Sept.

Can anyone remember reading the thread
about the suppliment to take?

Please help, I don't want to stop dieting
and am going on a cruise next month.

Lost nearly 3stone!:D

EEK ! That's one of the things I was worrying about...that and the floppy skin!! Better to have the weight off though (great result BTW - very well done) and the hair WILL grow back. Yes - will be great to hear which supplement to take.

Happened to me on Lighter Life too, dont know about the supplement though, sorry. It does grow back promise.

I take a product called Florisene plus I also take Glucosamine ...last time I lost a lot of hair ..this time so far so good ...so one of them is working

Don't worry too much ...it grows back as soon as you stop ...well mine did anyway

I heard on previous forum that Nourkrin is the best one to take. It is quite expensive but apparently works really well. Can buy at online chemist www.nutrisun.co.uk

Mine fell out in handfull's the last time I did CD but it grew back longer and thicker. I desperatley need mine to grow at the minute and that is one of the things I am looking forward to becasue I know from past experience that when it does grow back it will look fab. Don't worry.

ekk! My cdc said on ss+ I shouldn't suffer from hair loss, mine is reall thick and just has it all thinned out at the hair dressers don;t need more to fall out!!

Hi when i lost 4 1/2 stone my hair fell out when i was eating properly again or at least getting more calories, my doctor said it was like being pregnant, when your body holds on to your hair.
I was not very pleasant but it took about 6 months for my hair to get back to it original length, but i would definately recommend taking a suppliment to increase the regrowth, i did but too late.

But the hair loss is awful., but the weight loss is amazing so keep with it!!!! ITs a small blip on the road to sassiness

my hair was falling out after lighterlife and I went to Holland and Barrett and they recomended High strenth Silica complex for hair and nails plus sea kelp and B100 Vitamin B complex . I dont know if they worked though as I kept forgetting to take them . I have just started on cd and I think I may take them to try and stop the hair loss but I dont know if they will effect weight loss ?

Please don't worry about shedding hair

This is quite a common experience. I have experienced it when on the diet longer than three months and a number of those I have counselled have also experienced some hair shedding. I'm not aware that there's any certain reason for it happening but ...
Please don't worry:

  1. You won't experience baldness - in my experience you will shed hair from across your scalp so your hair will thin rather than fall out in any one area.
  2. It's temporary - the hair you shed will re-grow. Hair grows to a three month cycle (which spookily co-incides with the timeframe in which most dieters experience shedding). It's almost as if the body is saying it needs all the energy it can produce already without growing more hair. What you will find is that the hair follicle will produce a new hair and that it will grow back within three months.
Some people suggest that the regrowth is softer but I can't say I have noticed. All I can say is that I've never known anyone experience permanent hair loss from dieting, so take heart. This is a small price to pay for the benefits of significant weight-loss you will have noticed over the course of the 4 months.

I hope that this reassures you and anyone else with whom you share your concern.
You are not alone. Unsurprisingly others have been there. As far as supplements are concerned, you can take sillica as both a preventative and (I think) restorative measure. It's available from Holland and Barratt and you can even get it with horse hair! :D

Mine has been falling out & is quite noticable to me at the front. I've been taking Nourkrin, which is for people who suffer with mild to severe hair loss. It's quite expensive to buy - about £40 for a month supply.
I get mine off ebay for £28 delivered.
