Well hubby is also a big guy and following his own diet plan, he has been down to the leisure centre this morning and has signed us up to the gym/swimming pool/classes. I am not wasting £30 a month on nothing so I am going!

Feel a bit self concious but really wanna do the legs, bums and tums class. I also wanna do swimming 2 times a week (at least) and possibly the aqua aerobics.

Do any of you go to these kinda classes? I feel like I am going to be huge compared to everyone and not sure how I will feel stepping into the first class, but I WILL DO IT.

Please reassure me that I have done the right thing!

Feelin a bit :),, :p, :D, all at the same time.

Hi Hun....firstly well done on taking the step to join up to the classes. Secondly, no one is there to judge you...strangely enough there are all going for the same reasons as you...to look good and keep fit.
Just think how you felt when you went to SW class...that nervous anxiety will fade the minute you start exercising so dont worry.
Eating SW way coupled with the exercise will certainly do you good and who cares what anyone thinks Hun? You will look fab and feel it!

I was thinking of anyone says anything that at least I am here doing something about it!!!

I dont know if I am being too optomistic with what i wanna do, but 2 classes a week and swimming twice i dont think that its too bad.

I know that once I get into the routine of going it will be fine and probably start to enjoy it its just the intial few weeks which I amnervous about!

Good Luck and fab stuff!x

You will be fine Hun. I used to swim every morning 5 days a week and do 64 lengths a time - havent done that for a while now as dont have the time with Little One. I teach jive to beginners and quickly had to get over my inhibitions..to me, it was more a case of...these people are paying to learn something from me and for me to make sure that they enjoy it as well as learn from me...I quickly forgot about my looks I can tell you!!! Lol.
I may sound like some health guru, but I was 21 st 7, now 16s 8...I still have a long way to go, but doing something I enjoy certainly helps!!

I used to be really nervous about going to the gym. But I very quickly noticed that no one was remotely interested in me and my sweaty-wobbles! lol Honest, just go for it. People are very focused on themselves in fitness places, and wont give you a second glance. ENJOY :)

hi, please dont feel self conscious, we all go to the gym for the same reason, to get fit and feel good!! i especially like doing classes as its a motivation, as opposed to drifting round the gym doing a bit here and there. as for the size of people, we all come in all shapes and sizes dont we! and i find that some of us curvier ladies are fitter than some skinny minnies!! i must admit when i go gym my weight loss gets a boost and it does stuff for your overall appearance that a diet cant! you go for it!!
xxxx
oh p.s i have stayed much more on track by making sure i go to the same classes every week. you get to know the instructer and the faces (bit like sw meetings!) and it makes me feel compelled to make sure i go every week to the same classes!

I'm sure you'll love it once you get started.

I used to do aqua-aerobics and there are all the shapes and sizes and ages under the sun. You'll love it and it's low impact too because of the boyancy of the water. It's a good laugh too.

Once you get in the gym, I'm sure you'll love it. Good luck and WTG you!

hey!
i work full time in a leisure centre! and i see alsorts of people! trust me youll enjoy it and find that most the people are there for the same thing. the instructors are great too! youll be fine the 1st time will just take a bit ov a push then ull kick yourself for worrying :)
hope u enjoy :) i love the legs bums and tums classes!
xxx

You'll be fine, gone are the days when everyone at the gym is like a stick and posing :) Most people going there are either trying to lose weight or keep it off. Good luck you will enjoy it once you get into it.
