Mental Practice

loulouless

Is a loser :)
Apart from my desire to stuff my face, I have been trying to thing about how, once I've lost my weight, that I am going to manage my diet.

I have been thinking of the meals i make or am currently making for the family and thinking how I am going to make my eating habits much better, like going without the garlic bread with veggie lasagna, making sure I have a bowl of bran flakes for breakfast infact having any breakfast as I used to often miss it, and treating norty food as a real treat and not an everyday ormal thing.

All good i guess towards keeping the weight off for good!

Making more home made soup and veggie curries, spag bol using quorn and with rice or pasta....I guess we all know this...we had plenty of practice doing the norty stuff!

I think the same as you. Even though I'm only starting week 3 I'm doing the same thing. If anything I'm a bit worried about it and don't want to get back to bad habits. Lots more veg and salads for me and just cutting out the rubbish like crisps and chocolate. I know a little wont hurt but worried once I start to eat them again I wont be able to cut back on them like I need to. Plenty of time for me to plan healthier meals though!

It might sound crazy, but I spent about 3-4 months before the end of SSing planning my days food for after I finished the 'refeed' part.

I worked out about 3 months worth of calorie controlled days at maintenance levels :D

Anal, I know, but I really enjoyed doing it  and used the plans a lot when the time came.

Do you have the menu for those few months?!!! hehe

That's a really good idea KD. Planning ahead always helps me so might set my mind on that in a few months.

Loulouless, I'm the same with the portion control. I would be sacked if I worked in a canteen or cafe! I'll start thinking about that from now on. Once again thanks for the great advice. This site is so good.

:D. Not anymore. They were on weightlossresources, but I let them 'die' when I gave up calorie counting.

Besides...they change now. Didn't need them any more. But, they were liveable with. I knew I had to change my eating habits, and there had to be a healthy balance, but it wasn't extreme. Being such an addict, I was scared of going from having Binge Eating Disorder to having orthorexia :D

I'll pick up any weird disorders going given a chance :D

its a life style change I dont want my girls going the same way as me......I think planning and doing all this is a great idea, its almost like you are programming it into your brain in readiness for the real food life.....I still cannot quite believe I am not eating a thing and will not for quite some time...

Yes. Thinking about it, it really was like that. I was so geared up and ready when the time came. Couldn't wait to get started, but happy to continue the diet because I knew that once finished, I had the rest of my lifetime to 'do the maintenance'. No rush.

For other tips on life style change. Look at my currect siggy. Pretty much sums it up :)

I'm with you on the not eating anything. Before I started I thought how would I ever do it. But now it seems quite normal. Like you said I have to reprogramme my eating habits and what I think about food. I don't really crave anything at the mo but when I see really bad foods, I do think I could eat some of that. I'm determined not to go back to my old ways and can't wait to reach my goal and start my eating habits anew!

thats really good. we should all be thinking about this too for when we finish. I have decided that when I finish LT I am going to join WW to lose the last stone or so... hoping that will help me learn about portions etc.. and healthy eating in general. Although I must admit I have not ever actually had the problem of eating too much or eating the wrong things... I put on alot of weight with PCOS and meds for it... and after that I just gave up on myself and let myself be fat!

When I have been off LT I have been good with my food and have actually looked forward to eating healthy things. Im really trying to help everyone at home to start eating healthy and I think in the longrun it will help me too. If there is no temptation around me then I cant go wrong :)

I think its a really good sign when you start thinking of what you will eat after loulou.

Thats the good thing about this diet, once you've got through the first week, for some, longer for others, and start feeling calmer and less angry around food you relax. You can then start looking and planning what you are going to do about food when you come off this diet. As you say sometimes it includes the families eating as well, you've got 2 young teenage daughters so now is an ideal time to teach them (maybe without them knowing) better eating habits.

At the moment I'm still battling big time with food, but at least I'm craving healthy stuff like chicken and salad. That was until last night I went to a swimming gala and the bloke next to me ate a big bag of mini eggs all the way through:eek:. Then when we got home my daughter wanted an indian take away:eek:, I so nearly ordered one for myself because I thought why shouldnt i? Old habits again then i thought i will probably only need to do this diet till easter, thats no time:)

Enough rambling wish me luck on getting through today.XX

Well done on resisting the take away. Changing your old bad habits is so hard isn't it? Thought if I start thinking about new habits now they might seem quite normal when I start eating again. You never know, it might work!
