ive been on the sole source cambridge diet for just over a week, im having the shakes, porridge and soups. ive been fine the past week but just lately im starting to get half way through my meal and im starting to gag, im struggling to finish my meals, the same when i drink water...will this feeling get any better and is it normal??

Hi Porky, :welcome: to minimins.

I take it you dont like the shakes you have tried so far? Have you any tetra's? i live on them i hated all the sweet shakes and wasnt keen on the soups! its tough isnt it although you have to get them into you because they have all the vitamins and minerals you need. as long as you drink at least 2 and a half litres of water you will be grand? The drinking water gets easier aswell and the toilet trips become less frequent! if you need any more help or just support just shout :)

Try a different flavour! I know when I'm bored of something when it makes me gag trying to consume it :) You could try making a shake into a mousse for a change, the choc mint one is delicious! You could get some water flavouring when you start week 3, which can make the water easier to drink.

Hang in there, it will be worth it! x

I love tetras as they are so easy to get down especially chocolate. I find I sometimes gag on the mixed shakes but if I use a big straw and just suck and suck like mad to finish it that does the trick.

Have you tried having a chocolate shake but with hot water - strain out any lumps and make it in a very large mug and it's quite delicious.

With the water I make sure I drink it at room temprature or very tepid, that seems to make it go down that much easier.

Thanks for all your advice, youve convinced me to persevere, im on my second week. in my 1st i managed to loose 5 and half pound and 7 and half inches, i was really pleased with this so i was a little disapointed to start regecting the shakes.

thanks again

Hi
you have to put 1 scoop of mix a mousse in with one of your shakes shake it all up and then put in to a mixing jug and add 150mls of cold water mix well for 1 min then pour out into a bowl and leave in the fridge for 10/15 mins
they are very nice :)

Thanks again for all your advice ive not spoken to my councilor who has suggested that i go on the ss+ diet.......does anyone have experience of swapping diet. will i still loose the weight quick?

Hi Porky I'm on SS+. In my first week I lost 7lbs and hopefully come tommorow I will have lost another 7lbs (but that is on my scales, weighed myself this morning). Apparently the weight losses are more on SS because you don't eat so much but you can still lose a lot on SS+ it just takes a bit longer

Hi Amy,

I'm new to this forum and am only on my 6th day of CD (SS+) but I started to gag a little on the soups and porridge. I was a bit concerened and worried that I'd have to eat something different (oooh, scary!!) but when talking to a friend (a former CDieter) she made me realise that perhaps I was gagging becuase I'd gone from 2500+ calories a day to barely 600 and my stomach had shrunk......and I was struggling to take so much in one sitting??!! Ha!! I couldn't believe it!! And it's true......I have just had 3/4 of my lunch soup and can barely finish it!!
I still feel a little 'empty' inside, but I know that this is because my head is still trying to tell my stomach that this soup will not be followed by a sandwhich.....and crisps.....and chocolate.....!!

I hope this helps?? Keep up the good work - you are doing SO well :)

i also struggle to have my last meal of the day, and feel slightly sick. The tip to drink the water at room temperature is a really good one too
