Goal date sometimes seems so far away!

One day at a time :)
I know there are lots of people on here with more weight to lose than me but does anyone ever feel as though their long term goal date seems so far off?

I hope to have lost most if not, all of my excess weight by my 1st anniversary in August but it just seems like forever away...

Just wondered if anyone else felt like this (and I'm looking for a bit of a boost and maybe someone to tell me it's not that far really :8855:)

Shameless, I know!

I know how you feel honestly, when people tell me I should only really expect to loose 1lb a week it feels so depressing - that like 7-8 months o-O
I feel like such a moaner when I know there are people who would love to be in my situation and only need to loose 2stone.

Trouble is I have been using the "but it will never happen" excuse for too long and I'm just putting on weight for it. So i need to bite the bullet XD

Thanks Em!

I do sometimes, however, think that wow! When my niece or nephew is born in June, I will be very close to my goal weight and will have already lost quite a fair amount and be much thinner and healthier! so by the time s/he is 2 months old I will be super slim and fit auntie Kirsty :D

By that point I might already have a bun in the oven! wow! That's quite exciting :D So really, August isn't THAT far away - We can do it!! We should both be super slim and sexy at the same time :p

I try not to think about how long the journey will take. I tell myself that I only have to stick to it today, tomorrow will take care of itself. And as tomorrow never comes.....!

It does seem far off when one has lots to lose (it can seem that way when one has a little and it just isn't happening too!), but there is that old adage, one day at a time...take each moment as it comes...also remember that it took a long time to put all that weight on in the first place and so it will take time to lose it, would be fab if it would just melt away, but everything takes time...it's the way of nature, etc...

stick to it!!!! just keep going, and today will seem so far behind you when you get there!!! :hug99:

no rush....you got the rest of your life! x

I feel the same way, that its a long time even though I'm close to my goal, I started my journy back in may and I had reached a certain weight but then it stayed the same so I gave up after 2 weeks also I set myself a target month but I never reached it, instead i kept gaining and looseing weight :p now I am 3 pounds away from that weight I was when I gave up, and hopefully I will keep on going with my plan this time. anyway if your going to set yourself a goal date then make sure its several small goal dates rather than it being a far away one.

gotta stay determined :p somehow hehe
I live with my family so I find i have to stay in my room a lot. my brothers and sisters all have fast metabolisms and are skinny so they are constantly gorging on all the foods I love. I am becoming a bit of a recluse out of avoiding all my foody temptations XD
Sad but true. At least my pc is in my room :p

I know a lb a week makes goal seem ages away, i've not set my final goal weight as I want to feel comfortable in my size not my weight but I have set a target of 60lbs so that takes me into next year losing a lb a week. Im hopinf to average 2lbs a week but if it doesn't happen that way then thats fine too. I have no time set to which I plan to of lost the weight that would be too much pressure.

Hi Chocolatecat.

While your goal to finish losing weight is your anniversary in August, you could break ther 57lb up into "bite size" pieces and make each one a goal. Then it would not seem such a long time ahead. You could say I will lose 10lbs by the 1st March and then give yourself a small reward for achieving it. Perhaps some nice showergel or something more if you are flush. If you have lost more weight than you thought you will feel even better.

I know that has worked for me in the past.
