Anyone's target weight higher than 'normal' using BMI?

Just wondering.....I'm only 5'3" and think I want to be about 11st as I remember feeling quite good at that weight and when I was 10st (the highest 'normal' weight according to BMI) everyone commented on how gaunt I looked (cheers! LOL) but I think it was just because I had never been that weight before having lived most of my life being 17-18st.

So my question - does anyone else's target or goal weight still put them as being overweight? I'm sure once I get to 11st that I might want to go a little lower but I'll wait and see.

Yes mine is! I want to get to 12 stone - I'm 5ft 4. Although saying that, even though that's my target, I will probably lose a bit more than that if I can..

Yeah mines the same im 5"2 and i want to get down to 10stone and i will still be classed as overweight xx

i think mine should be 9 1/2 as i am 5ft 2 but want to get to 12 then work my way down from there

the weight charts aren't dead on for everyone some ppl are well over what should be normal but are perfectly healthy, there was a program on it, it was something like this big guy who looked overweight and this slim guy who looked really healthy, they did lots of tests and it turned out the big guy was super healthy and the slim guy was really unhealthy!

add me here too , ive not set a goal at class yet but i am thinking 12 stone 5 lb at the moment which will still make me overweight, im 5ft 7 inches tall . Im about a stone and a half away at the moment , but people say i look fine now as i am , but i guess like others have said.. .compared to how i looked 6stone 9 lb ago i do look much better if you see what i mean
I am pretty sure though that most men dont really like bony stick thin woman,my husband says he doesnt want to be able to play a tune on my rib cage ..LOL

According to here mine is just over 25 but tbh I don't know what weight I'm going to say 'Right, I'm comfortable here' - never been slim I was 10st at 10 years old and one went on practically for each year so we'll just have to see where I go - I'm just taking BMI as a rough guide rather than letting it rule my weighty choices :)

thats the nice thing about slimming world too, you set your own target weight, noone telling you what you should be on some silly chart.
xx

The "healthy" weight range for my height is 7.5 stone to a little over 9 stone and I have never been near that weight even when I was a size 10 so I think that range would put me in competition with Mrs Beckham and the size 0 crew. Having no desire to be able to open beer bottles with my hip bones I'm setting my own targets.
I know from my gym assessments that I have high muscle mass and as muscle weighs 3x as much as fat this skews your bmi targets.
I think you should just go for whatever weight range you feel is right naturally, better to set an achievable target and then take it from there if you want to drop a bit more x

my target puts me at a bmi higher than 25! xxx

Hello there

i am 5ft 1 and i been told i need to be about 7 & half stone. And even though i am small in height , i would look ill if i was that weight.

My BMI will still show me as overweight when I get to target of 12 stone. I am 5ft 6inches and have always had a battle with weight so have no idea what I will look/feel like at that weight.

It could be that I feel fine when I get there but on the other hand I might want to lose a couple of more lbs. I suppose it's a case of wait and see but I won't let BMI rule this decision as the way I see it, 12 stone is definitely better than 18stone 10lbs in both health and looks!!
