This is my first post on this website. Just learning how to use this interface. I'm really hoping this forum will help me get motivated to lose weight. Have been yo-yo'ing with my weight ever since I've been a teenager. I'm hoping 2009 will bring a lot of positive changes my side.
Could you tell me what is the best way to use this forum to lose
weight ? What works ? What does not ?

Looking forward to making some supportive friends

as it's something of a strange question; this forum is a fantastic help for guidance and support, but there is no "working way" to use the forum to lose weight, you have to choose a diet and stick to it yourself!

Perhaps the question didn't come accross as you intended it to?


Whatever diet plan you choose, good luck with it, there are sections of MM's for any type of diet you might want to do, and so much information in threads and from people if you ask :)
 
I think you were right. The question was a bit zany ! Did not mean for it to come out sounding like that.

Am on Day 2 of the Cabbage Soup Diet. After all the Holiday season partying, I've packed on some serious pounds.

Let's hope I have something more positive to report on next Monday morning, after I've succesfully completed one week of de-toxing. I'm really not looking at the Cabbage Soup Diet to permanently lose weight; just something to get me started on a more healthy track

You definitely need something more healthy than that, the chances are youll pile on any weight you lose on it the moment you come off it.

Youd be far better looking at a proper structured diet and having a go on one of those.

This place is so great for encouragement and support. I've made so many wonderful friends here.
Like you I've been yo-yo-ing for a while and then I learned something... you have to find a healthy diet (i.e. not a fad diet) that's right for you...no one can say what that is except you. Dieting, for me anyway, is not just about losing weight, it's about learning how to eat properly and healthily so weight loss can actually be maintained. You should try and find a diet based on healthy eating.

I absolutely agree with all of you. I'm just doing the Cabbage Soup Diet to detox my body from all the junk I consumed during the Holidays. I treated myself to Beer as well as fried foods and party snacks. The Cabbage Soup diet is more to give my body a rest by consuming as many fresh fruits, vegetables and cabbage soup as possible. It's not too difficuilt for me, as I am a vegetarian as is.

I finish this diet on Monday and hope to kick-start a more healthy routine. Though, I am very well aware of what to eat, I find it really hard to move my ass and workout.

I've promised myself that as soon as this diet is over; I will get on a balanced-healthy diet with whole-wheat carbs and factor in my
work-out.

Two Major Detrimental Factors :

I have a terrible habit of skipping breakfast
I have a terrible habit of skipping exercise
I constantly make excuses to avoid using the treadmill and EFX which I conveniently have at home

Otherwise, I eat healthy.

the best way to use this forum.. is just to comment on other threads, support other people who are also trying to loose weight! Maybe post a thread in the diaries section.. let people know how your doing, & you'll get lots of great advise & support back! :)
