Question! EE PLAN

Claire1981

Is so very nearly there!
You know the cous cous cake!

You are meant to syn it aint ya as if were red day - what do you do on this then?!?

xxx

Syn it as normal. The same syn value applies as though you were on a green day. So if you normally syn it as 2 on a green day, then it will still be 2 syns on EE.

but i syn it coz your mean to be replacing it as summat so use the red syns? im lost! x

I believe people said you just synned the mincemeat on a green day so since EE lets you have the 'free' food off both plans you would just need to syn the mincemeat like you would on green?

I can't be doing with the EE lark, it sounds too dodgy lol Will just see how other people seem to find it before I give it a go. :)

Ah I meant to ask that - I know the recipe has it marked down as 2 syns for the whole thing but it's got 2 tbsp of mincemeat in it... isn't it 2 syns per tbsp = 4?...

When you make your cake, do you use all ingredients that are free on Green? If you do, then the cake will be free. But if, however, you use mincemeant (2 syns per tbsp) then the syn value would be 2.

You take the lowest syn value, so for take this one for example:-

Tesco Chicken & Bacon Risotto, chilled 450g pack

Original 24 Syns
green.gif
Green 12½ Syns

On EE the syn value of the meal would be 12.5 syns as its the lowest value.

I dont use mince meat etc
I use toffee yog! everything is free in it but I thought you were meant to syn the cous cous like it would be on a red day coz you aint using the cous cous for its true purpose?

Basic/Non Branded Foods Couscous, ground/used as flour 28g

Original 5 Syns
green.gif
Green 5 Syns

Its the same syn value on both. My SWC doesnt syn her couscous when she makes the cake, she only syns the mincemeat. So I would say that your cake is free!

And thanks Victoria!! xx

your more than welcome hun, hope you and your family had a great xmas and new year celebrations..i think until the plan is up and in full swing theres going to be alot of confusion???

Yh thats why I was not sure! Argh its hard wk eh! x

No, no, no, no!! Please be careful - cous cous cake isn't free, I thought it was but you're actually using the cous cous as flour...... therefore it is....5 syns per 28g (as SA says) xxx

I think it depends on when you are eating your cake!!
If you are having it for your lunch for example, then personally I can't see what difference it makes to eating a plate load off cous cous with a salad. If however, you are having a lunch and then having cous cous cake afterwards aswell, then maybe you need to consider counting it. On the hand, I think it depends on the indivdual, how your weight loss is progressing and possibly how much weight you have to lose. Often, its all about trial and error...what works for one doesn't always work for another.

Cous Cous cake

Just needed to let you know that the cous-cous cake is not as low Syn as described. The Food Optinising book is clear about how to use ingredients correctly - see page 13 and page 23 of the Syns section i.e. cous cous is 5 Syns per oz when used as a flour substitute. Please don't damage your wonderful weight losses with any well-intentioned misconceptions.

Thanks Pam - I found this out on my 1st week, I was 100% on plan but eating cous cous cake, was expecting a big loss, but only managed 1lb, my consultant said it was all down to the cous cous cake, when I worked it out, I'd eaten over 100 extra syns that week (2 x cous cous cakes).

As someone above said - try it, but if you find you're not losing, try cutting out the cc cake xxx

oh my god ladies...i have just read all this thread and applaud you all for coping with this eating plan!!! it sounds like a degree in something wold be helpful!!! i wish you all the luck in the world with your weight loss journeys...and hope the many times mentioned cous cous cake (!) is worth it!!!xxx

I personally dont love the cake enough to spend all my syns on it! I think if your just having 1 slice a day then fair enough, but I know that I have eaten a whole cake in 1 day before now.

hehe, thanks mermaid - love your pic btw.

we'll all get use to it..... we just got handed the booklet but consultant was just doing a WI drop in session, so didn't explain it in group. Fingers crossed she will on Monday x
