Advice please - feeling sick on packs! Food refs. inside. HELP!!

Each time I start a pack, I feel sick and can't finish it. I have forced myself to have one so far today, and only managed 2 yesterday.

I have tried splitting them, holding my nose, trying flavours I wouldn't normally have, having them with water... nothing works.

I am close to BMI25 and am wondering if this might be my body saying it's had enough? Or is that just me trying to think of a way out of SSing??! lol I would like to do another week of SS to try and get to BMI25, but at this rate I'll end up passing out as I'm not getting all the nutrients I need, which I KNOW is important, but it just ain't happ'nin!

I have today had 1 pack, 4 pints of water, and because I had to give up on my second pack, decided to go down the Atkins route (as I do sometimes when I feel the need to eat), and had 3 beefburgers (just the meat) which totalled 300cals and 1.2g carbs, and ate each one sandwiched between 2 melba toasts (13 cals and 2g carbs each, so a total of 78 cals and 12g carbs), with a little cheese... so in effect, I made them into low carb cheeseburgers. So the total came to 378 cals and 13.2g carbs. The carbs is fine as it's less than one of my packs, and the cals added to my pack means I have had just over 500 cals, which I am happy with. I know they are fairly high in fat, but this is not a problem as I'm in ketosis and it will not get stored (that's how Atkins works). Plus its only a one off and not something I want to do in the long term, it's an emergency solution.

The only thing is, I know this is not the ideal and I am not getting all my nutrition, but I just can't stomach the packs, and I have felt weak and light-headed, but this little burger meal has made me feel 100% back to normal, almost instantly. I felt healthily full and not at all sick.

Can anyone advise why I might be feeling sick with the packs, what I can do to overcome this, or what I should do instead if I really can't get past the sickness?

I'm confused as normally it would be someone who hasn't done the diet before ... but you have. Wonder if it's subconscious??

Are you sure you are not feeling sick because you are going down with something??

Answer?? Not really sure - you've done what I would suggest, which is to split the packs, using more water .... have you tried using crushed ice or having them hot??

I know what you mean about the subconscious thing, I have been thinking that too, but I do definitely feel physcially sick when I start drinking the shakes now, so I'm starting to wonder whether it might be more than just my mind. The sicky feeling thing only started yesterday or the day before, but I have been going off them gradually during this week - in particular the yucky taste they put in my mouth etc.

Hmm... I've never got this far on the diet before. This is the lightest I've been on CD by a stone and I can't help but wonder if my body is wanting me to feed it more calorie-wise... just not sure.

Nope I'm not going down with anything I don't think. In myself I feel fine, just lacking in energy, which I am always like on CD. I'm one of the few who doesn't get the ketosis energy-kick :(

I havent tried putting them over ice - will give it a go later with a sweet shake and see what happens.

Thanks Bev, appreciate your help! Just help I can sort this out xx

Beverley might be right hun - could you be coming down with a stomach flu or something? There's a lot going around these days

Sorry I can't suggest anything else...too much of a newbie to know better

I have no advice but I too had a few bad days feeling very sick from the shakes just about a month ago. It wasn't me being close to BMI 25 then, still not sure what it was to be honest.

Good luck!

xx

Hiya hun

Never had a problem taking the packs but I do remember that as my BMI got nearer to 25 I did start to experience more cravings and had some dizzyness/ nausea. Rightly or wrongly I also felt it was my body's way of telling me to move up the plans.

Hope you get it sorted xx

Body wouldn't be able to make you feel sick just because it wants more calories .... it wouldn't know you are not going to give it more later!

Maybe try them with ice or hot. Do you feel the same with all flavours?? Shakes and soups??? Very strange!!!

If it continues and you really are not ill - maybe do 810 plan or even one of the higher ones. How long have you been on SS?? The feeling sick is normally with people who have not Cambridge-d before and it is the concentration of vits and minerals that make them feel sick - hence suggesting you half packs or add more water.

Another suggestion would be to have something to eat first ie broccoli/cauliflower etc etc etc ... followed by a shake and see if that works.

Thanks guys for your thoughts and suggestions. Bev, you make a good point - it can't be that my body is telling me it needs more... that wouldn't make sense... altho Georgie, I'm feeling that dizzy, lethargic thing and was just hoping that if I could do another week I would be ready to move up.

I still intend to stick with SS as far as possible this week, but obviously if I can't stomach them, I have to find something as an alternative. I had the initial sickness when I started SS back in 2007 and this isn't the same - hard to explain but I've been on this 2 weelks and have no idea why its suddenly started - dont think it can be the concentration.

Will try the ice later - I've had problems with tomato, choc mint, porridge and strawb tetra. The last two were what really surprised me as I have been practically surviving off them and they are my fave. I don't want them to start disagreeing with me now!!! I'm so close.
