Weight Watchers without the classes

I did WW with relative success some years ago, in time for my brothers wedding. Now that Im going back to losing weight with a vengance I was wondering if anyone had done WW without going to meetings.

As I have such a lot of weight to lose I find the meetings quite demoralising. Im there with loads to lose and in the queue beside me are people who have 6lbs to lose to get into their skinny jeans.

When I put my mind to things, I find WW the easiest to follow but wondered can it really work without the weekly classes??

I did the online one for 3 weeks. Relatively good forum for support (not as good as this one though;))

Might that be an alternative?

Aaahh....that's cos this is the best. :)

Mind you, I'm not sure how many WWers we have here these days.

Aww. You're welcome :) It gets very busy here and if you feel lost, hop along to Threadstoppers here

Mad bunch over there, but it's good to know there's somewhere to go when you don't know where to post and it's all too overwhelming.

Hi Starlight,

Myself and my husband have done WW...I went to the classes and he stayed at home but we both did the points and it made it so much easier shopping and cooking the same meals for both of us at the time and I have to say I feel the classes were very educational and helpful.

Husband done very well on WW without going to the classes and we supported each other.

If you stick with a routine and do a food diary and weigh yourself each week at the same time I think you will be able to do it as you were successful with WW before.

We have a couple who come and go on WW and if you start a thread I am sure others will be encouraged to join along with you.

And of course we are here to lend our support along the way as well.

Be sure to take your measurements and some photos before you start as these will help motivate you along the way.

Love Mini xxx

Hey Starlight, you can always do a weekly weigh in thread where you let us know your progress. Then you still have the accountability. Whatever plan you're on, we're here with ya :D

I like the idea of a diary, not sure I could manage every day but its a good idea, and another incentive to keep on the straight and narrow :)

You don't have to update every day, it's your choice but once you start it's really hard to stop!!! I let it all out on my diary thread; warts 'n' all. I've never managed to keep 'real' diary beyond January but there's something about a cyber one that's kept me hooked. Maybe it's the input from others that keep me at it:confused:

Anyhow, best of luck to you whatever you find to keep you on the straight and narrow

Me me me!!!

Hi all ... and hello DQ! :)

I haven't been about for a while but had to give up on CD just before xmas for health reasons.
Lost a stone on it so it gave me a push in the right direction.

I am now on day 3 of WW (which I did a while back) and am really appreciating food!

I admit I ate last week (as I had quit CD) but I was careful and since quiting, eating normally and now starting WW again I have only gained 4lb which I am putting down to glycogen / undigested food etc so hopefully haven't gained actual fat!

Heres to a successful weight loss for all us WW's .... I am going it alone too so I'll post with you both!

My story is similar to yours starlight. I attended WW a few years ago and it went really well. Last year i decided to do it again without the meetings but couldnt stick to it - I need the public 'shame' factor to motivate me. I have just started back at WW and am hoping to have the same sucess as last time.

Having said all of that, I rejoined WW before finding out about this site. Im guessing your going to get lots of support and I will be glad to pass any of the info I receive at the meetings if you think that will be of any help.

First weigh in

Weighed myself this morning after week 1 ... I was fully expecting to have stayed the same or gain seeing as I have just come off of Cambridge BUT ... 2lb loss!!! Yippeee!!!

Hope alls going well at your end!!! :)
