Tried to log on to my internet banking today and it was telling me I was putting in the wrong information. Just called the bank who told me that somebody had been into my account last Monday:eek: and had tried to apply for a credit card. They suspected that something was not right and blocked my on-line banking. How scary is that. I am really chuffed that the bank picked up on this. I now have to check my pc for a virus. Imagine getting a credit card bill that you knew nothing about.

Thats horrible at least your bank was on the ball, I wasn't so lucky last year my card was cloned at a petrol station and when I got my bill apparently I had been to pakistan for 2whole days!!!! and spent £300 not! It took me ages to get my money back once the bank were made aware they were very appologetic and got my money as soon as they could but it did take a while so count yourself very lucky! x

I had the same, my card details were cloned (they call it phisshing LOL) and I get a call from the bank checking all was OK as my card was racking up over 15,000 in 2 days in India, funny thing was it was all to some bogey money transfer company. Anyway I verified that I was still in Sunny Manchester and not rainy mumbai, so they cancelled it. Problem was that they issued me with another bank account number just to be sure, which i thought was OTT, so I had to go through all my direct debits and standing orders and change the details, I had so many it took about 20 hours, OMG what a nightmare.

Sickos.

OMG! Good job they picked that up quickly.

My parents had the same problem and they had to have another bank account. Pain in the back side yeah, but I suppose it's easier for the banks if the hijacked bank account is closed.
