Today i set about making some home made soup. Some of you may remember a thread i sent a couple of weeks ago stating that i dont like veg and need ways to try and eat it. I stocked up on some veg sunday ready to make the soup.

My squash question is, there are SOOOO many different types, do they actually taste any different??
I just got a regular butternut squash!!

I made 2 different types of soup and they both taste delicious in their own ways!!

One soup i made with the veggies i wasnt sure i would like and the other had stuff in that i was safe with LOL.
I think i have found a way of eating some veggies now, my body will be in shock!!!

Hiya
I think the majority of sqashes are all kind of samey there are subtle differences between them but not so big that by the time they are in a soup etc you can really tell unless you are some kind of wine tasting expert with excellent tastebuds! i cant remember the name of the little green ones that look like mini pumpkins but they are also very nice and if you get them small enough you can bung them in the micro whole and do like a jacket spud just remember to give them a couple of good stabs before you do !

Thanks, thats a good idea, i saw the lil green ones in morrisons. Quick and easy snack too!

They're all pretty similar... some are sweeter, like butternut, and some are less so, like pumpkin. Courgettes are the same family. They'll all do pretty similarly in recipes, but as stated above, subtle differences.
