Hi parkerela,

Well, first things first - Lighter Life is the best thing I ever did - seriously daunting, but worth every shake, and every penny!

The cost for foundation (as laststraw said) is £66 per week... you aren't financially obligated to stay the fourteen weeks - although you are asked to sign a declaration to say you will... and I think you need to go into it with the attitude of seeing it through (the first 100 days at least) otherwise people leaving willy nilly can really upset the group dynamic of those that join together.

During route to management costs fall from about £40 something a week to about £15, depending how many meals you are substituting with foodpacks - this is done over a further three months - and this is the part of the programme that appears to mean the difference of long term success and a quick fix - therefore, I would definitely not consider doing Lighterlife unless you are in it for the long run.

Management is just 'living' afterwards. You have the choice to attend management counselling sessions - for free, only paying for your foodpacks if you need them for any reason. This is ongoing, and is there indefinitely if you need further support once you leave the 'programme'.

Hope this helps a bit, and if you decide to take the plunge, make sure you keep us all posted on your losses - it's pretty cool stuff :) xx

I am also considering starting LL. I'm just waiting for a counsellor to get back to me at the moment; I emailed them last week?!!

LL Sounds super, because the weight comes off fairly fast. It is rather daunting though, I don't know how I'd live without 'any' food...I'd be kidding myself if I thought that I could not eat anything over xmas, so I'm considering starting after xmas. Still quite scary though! Seeing your photos in your sig there though - Amazing!!! You have changed sooo much in just 2 months!! It's amazing LOL - Well done you :)

Thank you!! This diet really does work... I don't have a photo from when I actually started (24th August) apart from the one my LLC has... this was a couple of weeks in - and this week - so about 10 weeks worth of change... it is odd to see it... :) If you want something that works - not always easier, but definitely the quickest way to get the weight off without surgery - choose lighterlife - it is phenomenal :D xx

OMG Anna look at you . What a transformation you look amazing.
You got it going on now sister!!!
Well done.

Joining LL was the best thing I've ever done.
I've only been doing it 3 weeks, and I already feel it's giving me my life back.

No more going "unnngh" when I bend over to tie my shoes, no more feet aching standing at the bus stop, not more "sucking it in" to get my trousers done up, no more worrying about wether my belly is hanging out the bottom of my shirt.... the list goes on.

So long as you are ready to give up food, and can keep a positive attitude (which I think is essential for something like this) then you too will be saying in a few months time that it was the best thing you've ever done. :)

Hi, I'm starting LL this Friday but have been doing Lipotrim which is very similar.
I had to wait 5 weeks before given a start date for LL. That was from the first email to the start date.
I agree with Pete, it will be the best thing you can do as the weight flies off you, better than any other diet but you have to be very motivated to stick to it as it is total food replacement.
I personally started Lipotrim as I was desperate to get the weight off but need the counselling and group meetings that LL offers as LT doesn't.
Good luck with whatever you decide but we're a great bunch on here and the guys will help you with any problems.

LS I know what you mean, I need the counselling to focus on why I turn to food and the support of the other members. I think this forum is a god send!!!! If you have any queries or trouble during the day, someone on here will be there to help you out.

Best diet I have ever done in my life!

And see the other thread about Christmas.....it's only one day, and the point of LL is learning why we say things like, "I couldn't get through Christmas without eating" - if you start LL now, you will be a stone lighter by Christmas! ;)

Good luck with your decision. BEst one I ever made!

I definately think it's the best thing I;ve ever done for myself as I've just hit 5 stone lost in 12 weeks.

With that said though it requires a serious commitment. Think long and hard about if you can stick to the plan or not. If you really think you won't be able to get through christmas then wait but, if you started this week, you could be a good 2-3 stone lighter by christmas. There is always something to challenge you on this. Christmas is just another one of them.

I don't mean this to sound negative but everyone definately needs to me mentally prepared to do something like lighter life and I'm firmly of the opinion that's something you have to do for yourself.

2-3 stone lighter by Christmas? Crikey Guy, you're optimistic! Remember - grrrr - men lose much quicker than us women do, sob... I think in the time from now until Christmas you'd realistically lose about a stone to a stone and a half... but you really should wait if you already are thinking you'll want to eat at Christmas... either that, or get your head focused and kick that excess weight into touch once and for all :) xx

I know that there is no way I'll not be able to eat at Christmas. I agree it's just another day and all that. But for us, it's a family day which involves a huge dinner and lots of drinkies. I rarely see my family altogether, so I wouldn't sacrifice it for the world!

I'm still waiting for the LL Counsellor to email me back too. It's been a week now I think?!

Just lost 3lbs this week by doing WW on my own; woop! Was very happy and hope I can shift another 10lbs or so before Christmas.....Then it's LL hopefully :)

I do forget about that Anna lol. On ther other hand, we die earlier. ;)

I guess it all depends on week one. Some of the lucky ones shed a stone or more in their fist week..... I know that's glycogen etc but it's still counts. :)

You could always have a bowl of soup and sit with them. You don't all have to eat the same thing! Like you said, it's all about being together with your family for one whole day. And if your family are anything like mine, it only happens at Christmas (or funerals as we found out earlier this year :()

In my house, it's all about us all spending time together, the talking and the laughing and sometimes very painful wrestling with my very strong cousin!!! Ow, I can just remember the bruises!! Oh, and the Christmas Crackers and the presents and playing games. He he, can't wait!

Hi All That Glitters... just spotted a couple of things in your post that rang alarm bells with me (well, that's probably a bit extreme... but you know what I mean!! Hehe!) ...

I know that there is no way I'll not be able to eat at Christmas.

Ok - firstly - that is a defeatist attitude already... OF COURSE you'll fail if you go into it already with your mind set on failing and giving up just for the sake of troughing on some turkey and veggies.

I agree it's just another day and all that. But for us, it's a family day which involves a huge dinner and lots of drinkies. I rarely see my family altogether, so I wouldn't sacrifice it for the world!

As someone else has said - and I do understand the 'only getting together as a family very rarely' thing... but why do you have to eat and drink in order to have a good time? What are you compensating for? Why are you not happy in your own/your families company just being 'you' without masking the event with food?

There is SO much more to life than eating - granted, it's pretty important for survival - but as far as social events are concerned, I think it's pretty sad that social skills have shrivelled up so much that people can't enjoy each other's company without a bottle of wine, food etc etc... (i'm talking society in general here, not picking on you - I was EXACTLY the same - it's just a light has switched on for me).

Anyway - it sounds like you are going to WW until after Christmas then start LL, which is definitely the best decision from reading your posts... enjoy the next month and get ready to start LL with your head properly focused on the road ahead- you really do need an iron will and steely determination to get through it - and if you do, it will be the best, biggest life changer you can imagine.

Hugs -

Anna xx

I thought the signature gave more away than anything:

Eat a tub of Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough to celebrate, but not be able to eat the whole lot

Hmmm - celebrate? You'd be much better off celebrating by buying clothes, make up, have your hair done. If you reward yourself with food then you will never kick the habit.

Sorry if I sound harsh - it's for your own good <waggles finger> !!

:D

LMAO - Good points picked up LOL

1. Firstly, I love relaxing with a bottle of wine and good conversation - it's just what I do! Some people like to get their nails done and I like a nice bottle of wine and a chat?! Not everyday! Is that really wrong? I'm only asking because that's something I enjoy doing; same as when I'm travelling - I love that. But I'm not a shopper, or a getting my hair done sort of girl - never have been really.

2. There is no way, that my mother would allow me to sit and eat a bowl of soup on Christmas day - it just wouldn't happen! And our meal lasts for hours, eating and chatting - I wouldn't want to ever change that, I enjoy it.

3. LOL In my sig, I do say that to celebrate I want to be able to eat a tub of Ben and Jerry's, but not the whole lot ;) Because I can eat a whole tub....But I don't want to anymore!

Am I missing the point? There's nothing wrong with enjoying good food and wine is there? Just so long as it's not everyday....XX

Wow 50lbs! Well done, that's super :)

Heh, this is the sort of thing I used to do. Rewarding with food I mean. If I had a good week (food wise) I'd celebrate and have a Chinese. If I had a bad week, I'd have a Chinese with the excuse that I'd start again on Monday.

Talk about a no win situation lol.

Oh and on the mother front, assertive behaviour will be one of the first things you will cover at Lighterlife. If you're not used to saying no (especially to your family) then you better start lol.

LOL - Ok I know that that wouldn't work :) but I enjoy ice cream - I know that I'll eat it again sometime in my life....
