WW GP referrals

Just heard at class tonight that GPs (in some health board areas) can now offer referrals to WW for obese patients. Apparantly you can get 12 weeks on a referral, same as SW...

Oh wow, thats good news, I wonder how wide spread that is?

I get this in Cornwall but i was not big enough to get it. I think you have to have a BMI of 30+. 2 of my friends are taking advantage of this though. Excellent idea!

I know lots of council-run gyms have GP referral's where you get a discount on 12 weeks membership, or something along those lines. As far as I know about how it used to work in my area, you didn't need to be a certain BMI, just that you would benefit from regular exercise.

So if anyone is thinking about starting regular exercise it might be worth going to see the GP first!
