hi all, just wanted to ask a quick question. does indoor cycling help to aid lose weight, and if so, is it a quick weight loss aid or just average??

i just wanted to know as ive purchased an indoor bicycle and i want to know whether ive done the right thing for my weight loss.
i will be doing 30minutes everyday.

thanks

Any exercise will help you lose weight as long as you have a calorie defecit ie you are using more calories than you are consuming. FitDay is useful to track what you are eating versus what you are using as energy. Well done with starting the cycling.

Raising your heart rate will boost your metabolism and help you to burn more calories throughout the day. So whatever the exercise, if it gets you a bit breathless and sweaty then it can only do good.

i cycle alot indoors and i would say it does help. def tones up the legs as well! on average it burns around 500 calories an hour, give or take. not to shabby!

yeah i have to say, im quite enjoying it. i do 30 minutes daily and that works out at 270 calories. i know now that it should aid my weight loss as im sweating bucket loads when im doing it. haha.

oh and it has really really helped me sleep... i have been having trouble sleeping for a few months and lately im sleeping so well, infact im really tired getting out of bed. just hope im not doing too much. lol

xx

Any cardio done at low (for longer periods) or high intensity (shorter periods) burns fat and helps one tone up...I cycle outdoors mainly, but have to train up for various challenges using the indoor bikes...upping the intensity level as you get fitter helps as well as cycling sprints (really fast stretches) with cruising (HIIT - high intensity interval training)...cardio also as the name suggests helps you get cardiovascularly fit...as well as burning the fat...

I tend to ignore the calorie burning thingy and instead opt to challenge myself on time and distance at varying intensities...

GO FOR IT!!!
