Comments from people about CD

I have told a couple of people (my family) that I'm going to be doing the CD right after Christmas, a few have been negative about it and I'm starting to feel a bit down about it. I really want to give this a go. I said I wasn't going to tell anyone but as I'll be spending after Xmas at their house, I thought it would be best if I mentioned it.

Also on another weight loss forum, there was a question on 'What diet is the worst you've ever done' A couple of people said the CD diet :( Also a girl on the forum was on her 3rd day, had a hard time last night and woke up this morning deciding not to do it.

Now I'm not feeling so positive :( I've gone thru posts and posts on this forum and have heard all good from it, but I can't help but have doubts.

I'm still going to try it, I just hope I'm as successful as many of you have been!

Aww Bloss - sorry u've had negative vibes from others...:(

BUT - don't let them get ya down - after all....who do you want to lose the weight for ?? - YOU !

No matter what we do in life, people are great at sticking their oar in...but the truth is - it's none of their business !

Not sure how much you want to lose...but if it's a lot..just remember the damage being overweight has on us - especially as we get older - high Blood Pressure, sore knees and backs, increased risk of stroke and heart attack....etc.

Cambridge is used by the Medical profession for people who are obese and is THE most extensively researched VLCD ever - if it was gonna harm you to do it, that wouldn't be the case !

and - as far as being as successful as others on here - YOU WILL BE !! just keep your eye on your goal and u'll be amazed how quickly you get there ;)

Pop on here if you need a bit of a boost....you will do FAB babe....chin up :D

love

Ahh bloss

Sorry to hear you've been getting negative comments and you havn't even started yet! Funny how some people become experts at something they've never even tried

Dya know what though - use their comments to your advantage - get the 'I'll show ya' hat on - that'll keep you going!

Yes the diet can be tough - but the reward will be soooo worth it :p

Bloss, I think CD is the best diet I have ever done! I lost exactly 3 stone in 8 weeks... i have more energy than ever.. and I feel sure that providing I don't eat like I used to pre-diet I won't put the weight back on.. This will be my last diet ever.

I got a few negative comments about two weeks into the diet, but most people I told I said if you dont' have anything positive to say then dont' say anything at all!!

It really is a good diet Bloss, It is the easiest diet ever.. yes you have to have fantastic willpower... but if you want to lose the weight then you will... so damn fast!

Good luck on whatever u decide

Bloss wherever you are in your head is going to determine wether you fail or succeed, You know if you stick to it you will loose weight. You have done your research and you and you alone will be the only person responsible for your success or downfall, please please don't let other peoples downfalls destroy your chance to loose the weight, whats good for one is not good for another, You will never know if you never try:), Don't let others determine something so important in your life.. YOU are worth it....:)

Bloss I can understand how these peoples comments have maybe disheartened you.

At the end of the day every diet will have people who have not succeeded and for various reasons.

I am keeping it in my head why I want to start this diet and that it is for me and noone else. All the people I have told who have been my close family are all behind me 100%. They know how unhappy I am and how many other diets I have tried.

Dad who isn't a very emotional person just said to me that he would support me 100% as all he wants is his little girl to be happy :)

I know its is going to be tough to begin with but I know my first good weight loss will be the motivation that will keep me going.

Don't worry about all those others just think of you and how much your life could transform with a good weight loss.

Hi Bloss,

No matter what diet I have ever done there was always someone to point out the flaws and that is why I did not say anything to anyone other than my family and a good friend until they noticed themselves.

The first week of the diet can be tough and I am back again SSing and I found it harder this time round. But now that I have reached six days behind me I am beginning again to feel I can do this.

This Scoop report should help answer your questions.

That is so lovely to hear lisaloooo. Your lucky to have the support of your family and had a tear in my eye reading about what your Dad said.

Awww I know I was quite touched as he is very old school and doesn't show emotion at all.

Having them there to support me will make it that much easier I know.:)

Bloss, There is so much negativity about VLCD as there is not that many people that know all about it, for want of a better word I will use ignorance.

I was one of those people. ;)

When my mother in law told me how she had lost the weight, I had reacted probably in the same way that happened to you,
1, Ooooh thats drastic
2, surely not safe infact dangerous
3, Hmmm bet you dont keep it off
Also people said to me, I know someone whos done it and couldnt, or I know someone who has put all her weight back on.

And I then I saw my mother in law, and was shocked. She looks ace!

So I looked in to CD, and I found out as much as I could, and 3 days later I found Minis, and it was three days old at the time!

TBH, I never looked back, day 3 and 4 was shocking, but I got my head down and ploughed on through. Its not easy, not all the time, but sometimes it is!!!!

Im waffling now, so Ill go, but if you go to diary thread, and pop on to my diary, read the first few pages and it will tell you why I did CD and how I felt, I dont expect you to read it all, its 45 pages long lol!!!!!!

My signature says it all for me, yes I am passionate about CD, but I was in the right frame of mind, and I was going to do it no matter what anyone says!!!

I will back people on what ever weight loss journey they choose to take, CD was the best for me, and for many others on here x

At the end of the day it can only be you who can make the decission but, doing a VLCD has enabled me to be where I am in life today which is where I could only have dreamt 5 of months ago.

I am living my life as a confident slim person rather than the lacking in self respecting fat person I was in the summer!!!

Listen to what YOU want not what others want you to do because the best reason to do this is for yourself.

Hi Bloss

You're thinking in almost exactly the same way as I did before I started CD. In fact, after reading your post, I went back to Discovery Health (the forum a lot of us used to use before we moved over to Minimins) and found this. This was my first-ever post that I wrote on 21st February this year.

"3 days to go and getting more and more nervous by the day.

I'm prepared to feel a bit grotty over the first few days/weeks with the positive side of rapid weight loss as a 'carrot', but I'm beginning to wonder if the negatives outweigh (pardon the pun!) the positives. HELP!!!"

10 months later (almost to the day) and I weigh 8 st 4 lbs less than I did when I wrote that, have dropped from a size 22/24 to a size 12 and haven't felt healthier in years!

Do I think CD is worth doing? What do you think? :)

Bloss, remember that it is your life, not anyone elses. As long as you are happy that you have researched the diet, simply thank people for their concerns and tell them that you have looked at the pros & cons and have decided that this is wat is right for you

People make negative comments about every diet normally because they are ignorant.

CD is a Great Diet it offers very quick results, yes you will have a hard time at the start, as you have to get past those first few days but it gets easier.
Once you are in the zone you can cruise it. It makes you feel good both physically and Mentally as that weight drops off.

So ignore ignorance and listen to those that have been there done that and got the small tee shirt.:D

I totally agree with everything everyone else has said.

If you had told me in October 2005 that I would abstain from food for 130 days, I would have laughed in your face - but I did - and it really wasn't as hard as you might think.

What spurs you on is that you feel great (after the first week!) and the fat just falls off you. Nothing can beat the feeling of being thin for the first time in your life!

I have found that we all get negative and positive comments when people learn we've done a vlcd - people always have an opinion, rightly or wrongly. It used to wind me up when I was a teacher that people always thought they had the right to moan about teachers just because they'd once been to school lol.

At the end of the day - it's your life and I would advise anyone (who's medically allowed to do a vlcd) to go for it - you will suprise yourself !!!

Best of luck, hun!

Hey there,

I lurk on here and very rarely post but thought I would in this case.

I can categorically state that CD has changed my life and I would recommend it to anybody who is obese.

I've now gone from close to 25 stones to 13 stone since July and feel like a different person.

Yes it's drastic weight lose but heck weigh it up against how healthy and the risk I was at when I was 25 stones I had to do something drastic.

If it worries you talk to your doctor and go for a check up every 1 or 2 months. It's what I did.

i think its the easiest diet ever takes all the worring about food away, i was always thinking how many points or sins or cals was in food now i dont bother at all it brilliant, wasnt sure i could cope but i love it i cant wait to be really good come the 27, couse i have a few things planed for xmas and i will be going all out for after, i cant wait to start knocking them pounds off
