What's the Core Plan?

One of my colleagues at work has recently started WW and was talking about the Core Plan yesterday. Unfortunately we only have a few minutes to chat but it sounded interesting so thought I'd come here and ask for more info.

Hi there, the core plan is just like the 'no points' that ww use to do. You have a list of foods that are allowed and within reason you can have as much as you like of that at each meal and you can only snack on fruit or veg or ww fruities in between meals. On top of that you get an allowance of 21 points for the week that you can use for naughties.
I have really enjoyed using the core plan, as not only does it fill you up it also makes you think more about what you are eating and makes you eat 3 meals a day, as no ready meals are allowed(accept with you points) the meals you make need to be cooked from scratch.
I know some peeps find it hard as you do have to control your portions, but its working for me at the mo, so I am going to stick to it!
Good luck

As Louise said, you have a list of Core foods, fruit, vegetables, cereals, skimmed/soya milk, meat, fish, pasta etc, of which you can eat freely for three meals a day - the idea is to eat until you are comfortably full. Between meals you can snack on fruit or WW Fruities and you have 21 points a week to spend on snacks and treats.

I like it and tend to alternate between Points and Core on a week to week basis (you can only switch weekly).

Thanks for your reply, NooNoo. It does sound interesting. I am glad it's working for you, good luck with the rest of your journey!

Thanks for your reply, KarenLou,

"...no ready meals are allowed(accept with you points) the meals you make need to be cooked from scratch..."

I tried the WW Chicken Mulligatawny soup today. It is frozen and cooked in a microwave. It is 2 and a half points and very tasty.

I don't really want to attend formal classes but would like a bit of guidence and structure all the same.

I think it's all about balance isn't it? Stopping when full, planning ahead, cooking simple food from scratch. Sigh:sigh:.

It is good that the current WW plan allows you to be flexible. I think that that is crucial if you want to learn to build new eating habits into your lifestyle.

Good luck with your weightloss journey!

"WW really is dead easy to follow without classes "

It really has to be for me, Sandy. I just hate getting my knickers in a twist with calorie counting, points etc.

I like the idea of being able to alternate on the programmes!!... I'm looking forward to joining WW in 2 weeks time (I'm on LL at the mo but have decided to defect after my holiday) :D
