Hiya I hope nobody minds me asking but since you all started losing weight has anyone found that your periods have gone haywire. This happened to me last time too when i started losing weight but when I went back to eating stupidly my periods returned to normal. Now I am losing weight again my period is really really heavy and lasting for a week instead of my usual 5 days and I am getting period pains again.

Has anyone else experienced haywire periods during weight loss?

only been on SW for 4 weeks, but my first one did seem to last for a lot longer, will let you know 2nd time round!

My periods are unpredictable because of the depot injection, so can't really help hun.

However, give it till next month and see a doctor if you're worried. xxx

Mine seem to last longer and were more heavy for the first 2 months but have gone back to normal now not sure why that happened though

Your fat cells hold oestrogen. When you lose weight the oestrogen is released and can affect your cycle. It should settle as your body adapts.

Thanks so much for the replies ladies..xxx

Thanks for that I could almost cry now with relief. I got myself all worried thinking worst case scenario, blummin typical me

Yes they did for a while but they have settled now - Never really thought it was coz of change in diet! Doh!

They are back to the usual 3 days now but got pains still :/

xxx

nope, mine didn't actually x

I first joined SW in January and lost just over a stone in a month. Then I fell pregnant. I came off SW and in April I had a miscarriage.

I rejoined at the end of August having put on all that I had lost and a little bit more... Anyways, since re-starting, I have been having a period every 2 weeks  but now, I am 5 days overdue. I did a pregnancy test yest and it was neg (thankfully!!) so I haven't a clue whats going on. The Doctor has sent me for some blood tests to find out what's going on.

It had never even crossed my mind that it might have an impact, but now that you mention it, yeah. Mine have been more erratic. Bloody periods (no pun intended)!!

i didnt know that about the hormone in the fat cells. if i notice my period going a bit funny i shant worry as much now, hope everything settles down for those who have noticed a difference xxx

Hey hun.
Hope you get the result you want.
If its any consilation I had a misscarriage last november (wow nearly a year ago now) and I bled for 5 weeks solid. After that I didnt have anything until July this year. I had convinced myself i was pregnant and spent a fortune on tests, I also went for blood tests to test the levels of something in my blood. Apparently theres some way they can tell how far gone you are by levels in your blood. Try and stay positive about your periods hunny. I think its something to do with your hormones getting back in synch!

But if you are preg or not preg I'll keep my fingers crossed you get what you want.

I am really sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It really knocks you for six doesn't it? Even though the Docs tell you that it happens to 1 in 4 blah blah, you still cant help but think it was something that you did wrong. And it was my 4th pregnancy too!

The test was negative and I am really happy with that. I have 3 beautiful daughters and feel very lucky that they are happy and healthy. I don't want anymore now, as we just couldn't afford another. It would mean a new house, new car etc. I just want to be slim and healthy like my girls now!
