I`ve been reading a really helpful book by Mireille Guiliano called `French Women Don`t Get Fat`. It was given to me some time ago before I embarked on LL and lost just over 4 stone. I`ve now almost finished reading it and it`s been so helpful. There are a few recipes in it but mainly it`s a book about how to eat, more than what to eat. I think it could be really helpful for anybody on LL attempting to re-think the way they deal with food.

The author is head of Veuve Clicquot in the USA, eats 300 business lunches per year and is not overweight! I think that anybody who can do that, and who does not exclude anything from their diet, deserves to be listened to. It might be a good idea to put it on your Christmas list! If you do manage to get hold of a copy, I would be interested to know what you think.

Started LL: 12.7.06. Weighing 14 stone 1 lbs
Ceased abstinence 21.11.06 weighing 10 stone 2lbs
First week of management: gained 1 lb
Second week: lost 3 lbs.
Current weight: 10stone
(until next weigh in!)

Good luck and a Happy Christmas to all

Hiya Ann

I agree that this is a very good book, however, I would also say that if you already have a copy of Paul McKenna's "I Can Make You Thin" book then you will already know the principles outlined within French Women Don't Get Fat as they both advocate the same thing such as:

Eat when you are hungry
Eat whatever you like
Stop when full

Etc, etc.....

Both of them are fabulous books but, in my opinion, its not necessary to have them both! Why have I got both? Because of my work which specialises in the treatment of obesity....:)

Now Beyond Chocolate - that is a truly progressive approach!!! Know Sophie and Audrey pretty well and they are truly walking their talk and come from a totally experiential point of view...they're not nutritionists or therapists (though they have now trained to be). They were just two sisters who struggled with overeating and constant dieting.

Can't recommend them highly enough!! :D

Hope you don't mind Ann but am moving this thread into the Bring Your Head Inside forum so that others on other plans can also join in and receive the benefit of these recommendations.

I don`t mind the thread being moved, if it helps others and I shall definitly try and get hold of the other books. Anything that helps our life long weight battle has got to be good. It`s not all about recipes, as we know only too well.

If you go to the main home page where all the forums are listed then you will see the "Bring Your Head Inside" forum listed just over half way down the page!!

Good luck....:)

Thanks for recommending `Beyond Chocolate`. My husband bought me the book for Christmas and I am going to do one of their workshops in February. I haven`t had time to read much of the book yet but it looks really helpful.

I'll probably see you there as I'm doing some research work with them at the Feb workshop!!! We'll have to arrange to meet up with each other during one of the breaks....it is very good and you will have a great time!
