Curry question .....

Hi all - am going out for a ruby tonight and having looked in my SW book, it states that a vegetable jalfrezi is the lowest syn value at 7 syns on green, a veggy curry coming in at a healthy second place at 9 syns (on green also) - if I asked for any sort of veggy curry with tomato base, wld that be the way to go - how can I phrase it to them in the restaurant - also, as I haven't had any A's or B's today, cld I get away with just one poppadum as a B and a tbsp of raita as my A??? Shall order plain rice and a salad too - it' just the main dish I'm struggling with and wld value any input, any thoughts? Hey, don't worry I won't even contemplate a naan bread!!!!! Got people down from London for the meal and I just don't want to look a right idiot trying to plead with the waiter for a low fat dish ....

are you on a green day already as i alway find chicken tikka to be best (obv on red) as tehre is no sauce and you usually get salad with it. otherwise if there are a few of you ask for a portion of rice for yourself and just have a small amount of curry from someone else rather than eating loads. as for popadoms for a healthy B absolute no no. they are (i think!) 4 syns each and raita cant be counted as a healthy a either. you can only have what says are healthy a/b in the book and online because they contain things that are essential and unfortunantly popadoms arent essential lol! but yea i always have popadoms and chicken tikka if i go for an indian

Chicken biriani is only 12.5 syns on a green day, and with that the rice is included in the meal, and you get a small vegetable curry with it too. Vegetable biriani is 11.5 syns.

You could have chicken tikka for starters, and count is as a hexB. Personally, I'd have to have poppadoms too, yum.

i would go for a red day and have tandoori chicken or chicken tikka, they are both dry and low syns, have the salad and popadom and thats a good meal for a curry shop!!
yum yum, i could eat this now!!

As I'm on a green day (always am), I cld have a chicken tikka or tandoori starter as 2 x HE(b) as I haven't had any yet today, but have it as a main dish with the others along with lots of free boiled rice plus salad? What's the difference between tikka and tandoori - I wonder which is the least fattening or they both the same?

they are both cooked skinless, main difference is the tandoori is on the bone and tikka is cubes of breast meat, i prefer legs of chicken to breast as i find it dry so i go for the tandoori and yeah have it as ur HEX and have boiled rice and salad.
YUMMMMY!!!

ta for yr help, you've been great!!!! Shall go for the tikka cos if I picked up a leg of tandoori, it'll probably go flying off the table and shoot across the restaurant, landing in someones lap, and our guests from London will get the next train home (sigh) ..... no manners some people .... (lol) ....
