i was reading the small print regarding security/liquids etc and i am worried that i may get them confiscated.

you are allowed "dietary requirements" for the duration of your journey but i need to take 2 days supply.

i can't stand the bars and will not be able to mix up my shakes as i will be on the go a lot.

any ideas anyone?

hey, is there anyway you could ring the airport or the airline? I think if you have a letter or what they are you would be ok but i dont know hun xx hope you get something sorted :) x

thing is, i am going easyjet (hence the handluggage only as they charge for bags) and getting a phone number or a definitive answer from them can be quite tricky to say the least!

oooh, I hope someone will be able to help as it will be really hard otherwise to do CD. I thought it was 100ml only so I am not sure you will be able to, but hopefully someone will know for sure - what a pain eh!?

i am considering posting them down to my friends house just to save me the hassle/worry!

I don't think you can, as you can't take liquids over 100ml.

Even Baby's milk you have to taste in front of security. My friend took cartens of readymade baby milk thinking it would be easier and they confiscated it.

If I were you I would take them anyway and just not tell them - It's not like it's dangerous ;)

Absolutely not.
No way.
The security will confiscate them for sure. No reasoning.

PM me if you want more info.

Tetras are only allowed in baggage checked in, to go in the hold of the aircraft. Not in hand baggage.
Do not act the as if you did not know, as they chuck all liquids in a bin. CD tetras will not come under the tiny number of exclusions.

No you won't be able to take them as Nibbles said, they won't allow liquid like that on a plane.

Does your CDC sell the shakers? I bought one off mine when I was doing Cambridge and it's brill at mixing the shakes. You could then buy some bottled water, which they'll allow you to take on if it's new & sealed (or you could buy it on the plane, or even ask for hot water if you want a hot drink - althouh be sure to make sure the lid's on tight!!) and a sachet and mix it on the plane - you might get some funny looks but at least you'll have a shake.

Hope you can sort something out.

Only bottles of water bought in the airport terminal, after passing through security and passport control, can be taken on the aircraft.
New and sealed>>>it has to be after security, regardless.

from daughter who works at manchester airport,

you you are allowed to take liquids through as long as they are under 100ml

i'm not sure what quanitity the tetras are

2 weeks ago when we went to turkey, i took 6 minatures 50ml bottles of vodka for the girls. i put all the 6 bottles together in a plastic bag, and they went through in a plastic tray, security picked them up, and asked what was in them, then said we couldn't have them, then started to laugh, and said have a good flight girls, and handed them back, no problems.

but my mate had her lipstick tested for something.

the bottles had already been opened and re-filled, we also took our own food,

i have done this before and it has never been a problem,

as long as you stay within the 100ml limit.

abz xx

well i can honestley say non of ours was taken out of our hand luggage

neither was the bottle of vodka, brandy red ketchup, mayonaise, tins of tuna, salmon, horseradish sauce taken out of our cases, which were in the hold.

i can only go of my experience and what it says on the website.

wow, so many responses!

thanks so much for confirming what i thought, i will get the tetras and post them on down then.

i am so fired up on this diet that nothing will stop me from ss-ing at the moment! long may this feeling last!

Hi sorry to be so negative about this but I've just come back from my holiday in America and got in a massive panic about getting my packs over. You are absolutely not allowed to take your Tetra's on the plane in hand luggage. They x-ray your hand luggage and will remove them regardless. Even if you plead ignorance they'll still make you put them in the bin. They are incredibly strict about liquids. Before I went away I phoned the airport to see whether they classes as special dietry requirements and they don't. I'd hate for you to be caught out. The shake packs and the bars are both perfectly fine to take in your hand luggage though. And I got through an 8 and a half hour flight surviving 2 bars. At least on Easyjet you won't get a tray of food dumped in front of you, like I did, even though I cancelled my meals. Sorry hun, but I think being forewarned is being forearmed cos if they take them all off you then that's your who trip with out them, whereas if you can manage on the plane without anything or with a bar or 2 you'll at least have the shake packs for while you're away.

i can only go off my experience

and twice this year i have taken minatures to the airport, and they have gone through security no problem.

both times they have been in my hand luggage, the last time these were the only, liquids i had in my plastic bag, everything else went in my case.

i only took them because daughter works at manchester airport and she said that it was ok.

plus i have a tin of salmon that has flown, more than it has swam. :)
