Which food processor?

I'm finding that I'm spending a lot of time each day chopping vegetables, and would like to know the opinion of fellow WeMitts on food processors. I've never had one before, but I'm thinking of buying one, mainly for chopping vegetables. I can only eat cabbage if it's cut very finely, and like to chops carrots onions, mushrooms and peppers in the same way. At the moment, I'm using one of those V slicers (mandolin? are they called) and it does the job - just takes a lot of time - and as I can't get on with the food holder, I have to be VERY careful not to cut myself! (don't always succeed)
I need to continue to do this as part of my maintenance plan, and any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Ann, I have a kenwood which only cost about £70 it has all the accessories and even though I only use it to crush ice at the moment (I dont use the smoothy maker, much prefer the hand held blender for ease of washing up lol) it is a good sturdy machine and has lasted ages with constant battering!
Check kelkoo or similar site online to compare a few different machines.

Yep I have done veg with it (in the dim and distant past lol) and it works fine but to be honest I find that it's easier to just chop veg by hand as I hate all the washing up (sooo lazy) (and since we've moved we had to get a really small dishwasher so not ideal lol_actually from memory I don't think all of it can go in the dishwasher, hmmmm maybe thats why I stopped using it for everything else but ice, lol) it came with a stack of different blades most of which have never and will never be used, so if I were you I'd look out for a cheap machine just incase you dont use it as much as you think, those v slicers are lethal though *shudder* I cut my finger on one of those ages ago and fainted, thought I was gonna bleed to death eeep!
