Vegetarian Protein

Hi, can a cdc help me with a protein weight for a vegetarian meal option please? There is a sticky at the top of the page but its not been completed and I've mailed the poster but no reply.

I'm planning on having quorn pieces and green salad, I just don't know how much I can have, and what, if any dressings I can have.

Really appreciate any help and advice or to hear from any other vegetarians about how they are doing

Keep glugging

Hi Bluegirl,

The weights are in your yellow book (Weight Care With Cambridge).

200g Quorn, SS+
275g Quorn, 810kcal

as for dressing, use a little cottage cheese or possibly a little balsamic vinegar

im not sure what else..im sure others will have a few ideas

It really depends on which plan you are doing and most are mentioned in the yellow book.

The list that CD Counsellor was doing was for the 790 (which is very similar to the 810), so I'm sure you can use those measures if it's 810 your wanting info in.

So...here ya go

Vegetarian options on the various programmes.

For 790 programme the options are:

Choose one protein rich food

350g (12oz) reduced fat cottage cheese
300g (10oz) Quorn pieces,
375g (13oz) Tofu, steamed.
80g dried weight red lentils.
225g canned chickpeas, drained
70g dried weight soya beans
80g dried weight chick peas

Reading from yellow book 810kcal protein option of quorn and tofu are less in weight than 790cal.

Yes. It's strange isn't it, but I just copied and pasted from Linda's message, and Linda is never wrong :D

I know there was a difference between the old AAM and the new one (which is now old :D :D), where the protein was less, but the veg was more, but still. I'm quite mystified over this.

But, as I said, it is the 790 vegetarian option which doesn't exist any more, but it does give an idea of some other options available for vegetarians.

Just need a clearer idea of quantities really, and if it can be adapted for 810

You are all wonderful!

Thank you for your replies, and the PM's. I think I know the answers now.......the reason I wanted to know is that I am on ss but I am going to have to eat a meal tomorrow, just cant get out of it, so a green salad with quorn pieces is I think so me. I'll maybe even treat myself to some balsamic vinegar too.........oooohhhh I cant wait

Thank you xx

Hi

Sorry didn't reply to your email bluegirl but I have not been around for a few days.

KD and Sim this is a list I was sent by Head Office a couple of years ago for a client who was a vegetarian. Cannot comment on the amounts differing though.

Another veggie here, am doing SS+.

Thats really interesting reading re being able to have chickpeas, and lentils. .... there is no mention of that in my book.

Must admit am getting cottage cheese, tofu (when can get it) and quorned out so being able to have some of the other items will be really nice. :D

xx
