Would changing plans help with my bowel problem - sorry TMI!!

I love this diet, and I have lost 3 and a half stone, but I can't cope with the painful hard bowel problem. I have been in so much pain I could have cried tonight, and I don't want to have to rely on laxatives. I would prefer to introduce more fibre rich foods instead.

I want to lose another 3 stone, does anyone know if I move up to 1000 cals that a) it will sort my toilet problem and b) I will still continue to lose weight?

Thank you in advance for your replies!

Do you take a constipation preventative such as fibresure or Psyllium husks? I think a lot of people need something a little extra on CD;)

Have you tried the fibre 89? I always have problems - either too loose or blocked up. This time I have been taking it twice a day religiously for nearly 2 weeks and -touch wood - everything is ok

I can't stomach the husks, but I might give the fibresure a go before I give up completely!

Thank you KD, I appreciate it.

Thanks Toots, that reassures me. Will give that or fibresure a go.

Cheers.

The fibre 89 is the same sort of thing as the fibresure. Highly recommended.

Just put a teaspoon in a shake twice a day, and hey presto ;)

Doesn't taste of anything. Doesn't change the texture.

You can even put a teaspoon in your water. It dissolves clear and you wouldn't know you had it in there.

2 teaspoons a day should be enough. Use regularly. It's not a laxative. It's a preventative so you don't have to use a laxative:cool:

Glad I could help :)

I'm on SS+ and I always seem to have salad, so maybe a change of veg would help.

I knew I could rely on minimins for answers!!

That and the Fibre89. I use the Fibre 89 and so far have been ok. I know what you mean about the painful hard HUGE stools - not nice.

I understand what you are suffering. I feel like I am passing chunks of glass at times. The whole experience of 'going' can leave me sore and often bleeding.

When I am struggling I take Dulco ease. It's not a laxative - it softens the 'stuff' so it's easier to pass. It works within a couple of days for me.

It's certainly worth a try when you are doing so well on the diet - good luck and happy pooing! LOL

I second the dulcoease too. I picked up the wrong stuff the other day (got the dulcolax) and was up from 5am in agony!
