So Excited - I'm now a CDC!!

Hi All

I was accredited as a Cambridge Diet Counsellor last night and I am so delighted. The fact that I'll be helping people to become slimmer, healthier and happier with themselves is something I'm passionate about and I can't wait to meet my first client!

I hardly got any sleep last night - I'm so excited (she says whilst doing the happy dance :) )!!

If anyone has any advice or tips for a new CDC please send them my way.

Many Thanks

Mina

Congrats ...

I do love reading a bit of good news ...

I suppose that many other CDC's or indeed LLC's are previous users of the service, and this gives you all a significant advantage over those people who become counsellors solely as a career. Actually experiencing being overweight and the struggles to lose weight will give you insights into your clients struggles.

I wish you the best of luck on this new venture. What's the procedure for becoming a counsellor? Does it involve alot of training? What's the initial outlay? No, I'm not thinking of following suit, I'm just nosey!

Morning
Great news congratulations.
Know just how you feel I am new to I became a CDC on 13 nov.It is great to know that we can now help others to feel the way we do.CD has changed my life and I would just love to help others change their lives, as you say being heathier, fitter and happer with themselves.
Wishing you lots of luck.
Love and hugs
Libbie xx

Thanks AmandaJayne.

there's nothing wrong with being nosey :)

To become a Cambridge Counsellor is quite straight-forward. I informed my own counsellor that I was interested and she became my sponsor and requested the application forms. You do have to meet certain criteria like have a BMI of 28 or less and have personally used the CD for at least 2 weeks, which is understandable as then you have first-hand knowledge about the diet and how it works.

I had to complete the application form along with a questionnaire and was accepted onto the training course after a telephone interview.

I attended the basic counsellor training course last month in Corby and on completion was given an accreditation form and basic training questionnaire to complete within 14 days. The great thing about the course is that it's free and if you decide that you don't want to be a CDC after attending then that's fine. Obviously , I did and purchased the business kit on the same day. The initial outlay is very small and I thought it would be hundreds of pounds but it was less than £100 (including travel expenses to the course).

The accreditation form and questionnaire are marked by Cambridge HQ and then they call you to discuss your results. If you pass, you receive your CDC accreditation.

I will also have to complete some development modules over the next 3 months, so the training is ongoing. Fortunately, I have a wonderful sponsor who is really supportive and know I'll be able to rely on her when I need help.

Hey Libbie :)

Wishing you the best of luck too.

This is a great opportunity for both of us to assist others in achieving their weight loss goals. Like you, my life has totally changed since losing weight, I just wish I would have discovered CD years ago!!

I'm not doing this to make millions, I just want to have a more rewarding career where I can help make a difference in people's lives. I know from experience how hard life can be when you look in the mirror and are ashamed of what you see. I received so much support from my counsellor and various on-line forums and feel that sharing my knowledge and experience of CD with others is the least I can do to help others experience the joy of being slimmer.

Hey Caz

Hope you're well

I've responded to your emails - did you not receive them? I also emailed you last night about my accreditation. Still haven't heard from Frances which is a shame as I know she could do with the support.

Please keep in touch

Hi Mina

I've just been accredited too, it's so exciting isn't it, I got my Business Kit yesterday, I was like a kid at Christmas! I was on the same training day as you, don't know if we met, but I did meet Carrie as I knew she was going from this forum.

Anyway, lovely to meet you now, have fun getting yourself set up, there's lot to do isn't there. I've got my first client coming next week, so I'm off to Ikea this weekend to get some storage solutions for my packs.

Take care, let us know how you get on
xx

Congratulations!! I can 'see' your excitement from here :)

Just one question..

How does it work if there are already a couple of CDC's in your area? Can you still become one or is it only encouraged in areas where there are very few?

Congratulations Mina and Wishing you Success in your new Venture!

Ahhh - I've just logged on to find all you messages of congratulations and support - thanks guys!!

Is anyone going to the Conference tomorrow? I just got my ticket today as someone dropped out. I'm really looking forward to it but have to leave early as I have my work's Christmas Party in the evening. I'm gutted as I'll miss the slimmer of the year winner.

Hi Anna B

I have several counsellors in my area including my sponsor and she welcomes the fact that I've been accredited as she is so busy.

Initially, I did worry about the fact that I might be encroaching on other people's territory, but it's just not like that. I've received nothing but support and can't wait to meet other counsellors and share experiences
