Will they let me do CD?

Hi everyone, i've been lurking for a while but I thought i'd finally pluck up the courage to post.

Right now i'm 5ft3 and 11st8 (162lbs) with a BMI of 28.5 so well into the 'overweight' category and only about 3lbs away from 'obese' (that really shocked me!). However, i'm worried they wont let me do CD because I have a 9 week old little girl (although i'm not breastfeeding).

I'm worried they'll tell me that it's not the right time in my life for this or I should try to loose the weight in a more 'traditional' way first. The problem I have is that when I was pregnant I developed a really bad back which is now exacerbated by the extra weight so i'm not able to exercise. I managed to gain a whopping 4st despite the fact that I was eating better when I was pregnant! I'm watching my diet closely but the weight is just not shifting. I feel like I need SS to reset my body and allow me to start exercising again.

Sorry, this is turning into a bit of an essay!

My question really is whether i'll be automatically disallowed from the diet because i've recently had a baby. I know the only way to know for sure is to ask a CDC but i'm worried that I wont be able to hide how dissapointed I am if they tell me I wont be able to do the plan.

Anythoughts?

First of all, congratulations on your baby girl :D

You will be able to follow CD, but not until she is 12wks old......
Now, dont be disheartened... its just three short weeks. Use this time as preparation - start to increase your fluid intake and begin to cut out the usual sugary carbs (you know, all the ones we really don't want to go without )

Preparing your body in this way, and choosing good healthy food most of the time will help to ease you into Sole Source (or whichever plan you and your CDC discuss is best for you)

Congratulations again, and good luck for when you start!

Hi

You can follow the Cambridge diet 3 months after giving birth as long as you aren't breast feeding.

So good news is that you only have a couple of weeks and you'll be fine:) In the meantime it would be worth upping your water intake and slightly cutting down on carbs and fats to get your body ready for when you begin the diet. This will help you be prepared for the diet and also you'll have lost a few pounds in the process:D

Take care

Hi Lisa,

I see you've already got the answer you needed but I just wanted to add that I too was in your position (pregnancy weight gain). 10 years ago I gained over 5st whilst carrying my first born. I'm also only 5ft 3" myself and it put a lot of strain on my back, etc. so I completely understand.

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck for when you start CD. I know you want to start as soon as possible, but like the other posters advise, preparing yourself so you don't feel a big shock to your system will be a great way to focus on the positive rather than feel disappointed that you have to wait a little longer, and you'll more than likely lose some weight in the process.

I lost my 5 stone without a 'diet' as such and I'm using CD to get rid of my last stubborn stone so if you'd like any advice give me a shout.

Good luck! :)
Xxx
