Pepper or No Pepper???

Hi Katie,

I'm not a soup lover but there are others who have posted that they add pepper and spices to the soup to make it better. You mustn't add salt. There are other things that you need to be careful about - certain brands rather than spices - but I'm not sure of details. I'm sure someone will be along soon who will able to help you more.

Wow, how long have you been on LT? You have lost 2 stone already! Well done.

Hi Katie Dot,
You can add black pepper, herbs and chilli flakes, but I'm not sure about curry powder. I don't see why not, but someone else will know.
I add all the other ones to my soup, and use a stick blender to mix it all in. mmm:drool:
Give it a try. xx

I'll definitely be giving it try tomorrow, thanks Cathy!!

I've been on the diet for 5 weeks (as of Friday just gone), I'm so happy at losing 2 stone, and its definitely given me alot of motivation to keep on going!!

Yep. I add pepper and chilli powder (chilli is very good for burning fat as well) everytime, and couldnt eat the soup without it!!

some curry powders have carbs in so stear well clear of it - stick to pepper and/or chilli flakes.

but why mess with perfection anyways :O :sign0137:

Used to love the soup now i think it is the food of the devil!!

Why not add salt, i've been using it since day one???

Niyid, there is enough salt in the shakes/soup for your daily allowance - adding more could be harmful - so stop adding it!!!

I hope you have been drinking loads of water to compensate for the dehydrating effect salt has.

I can't remember why it's a no no adding salt (I hope I've got that right) but I remember someone on here posting that you mustn't. Can't remember who but it stuck in my mind at the time - coz when I tried the soup I remember it tasting very salty.

Hope someone can confirm that for me!!!!

I'm not often right so I won't be surprised if I'm wrong again!!!!!

There you go! I knew someone wiser than me would know!

Thank you Lisa.

ive heard curry powder is a def no no.

If you are drinking the 3-4 litres of water a day you probably dont need any extra salt. BUT if you are drinking more than this you probably DO need extra salt as your body dilutes the salt down. Too much water will dilute and remove the salt from your body. Salt is not evil, but MUST be taken in the appropriate proportions. There was a triathelete recently who died becuase his kidneys failed due to excessive exercise in extreme heat, drinking loads and not taking on any salt, he literally flushed all of the salt out of his body and caused acute renal failure - and he was mega fit!! Salt is not evil, but if you are drinking the right amount of water, you do not need extra. That said, there can be no harm in a small amount as seasoning to taste.
