Camping in Cheddar

Sez

has started again!!
Hi, not sure of anyone is interested but just had a week camping in Cheddar, Somerset and thought I'd let you know about the site etc. Really just in case anyone fancy a trip to the area.....

Campsite is called Broadwey House, and was pretty good by & large, with a couple of little niggles. (I am trying not to let the fact it RAINED & RAINED during our stay, cloud my judgement!! Our pitch was for tents only, no hook up and no hard standing. These were in a field, which felt like a bit of an afterthought area! There was no night time lighting, so a trek to the distant toilets in the dead of night was not to be considered lightly!

The toilet and shower blocks were pretty well maintained, despite the amount of mud that was everywhere due to the weather. There was a well stocked shop, a take away and bar on site (hot food also in the bar in the evenings). The kids loved the facilities of a BMX track, skate park and swimming pool, all inclusive in the site fees. We did not use them, but there were adventure activities at extra fees such as archery, rifle shooting, climbing and abseiling.

We paid about £30ish a night for 2 adults, 2 children, tent and pup tent, which was ok considering what we got for the money.

We would def go again (its only 1 and a half hours from home!) but would request a better pitch, thats more central to the site, and with electric hook up.

We did day trips to Bristol (I was in IKEA heaven!!), went ice skating, saw the SS Great Britain, visited Wookey Hole caves (Good but hugelt overpriced I thought). We didnt do the Cheddar Caves this time, as we visited them a few years ago, but they are def well worth a visit.

Hope its ok to post this? Just thought as most of us are on budgets these days, it might of interest for a cheap break!!
