Ketosis and Meal replacement diets

Hi all,
Having done lipotrim tfr for 4 wks during Apr/May just gone, I tried to get back on the tfr wagon this week and I failed, lasted 2 days and caved in, couldnt stomach the shakes (and loved them last time round and found tfr so easy to do). So Ive been looking at other 'shake' diets, celebrity slim, slimfast etc. My question is if I was 2 have 2 shakes a day and 1 protein, low fat, low carb meal would it put you into ketosis state? Ive heard with the celeb slim you can drink alchol on it so surely this diet doesnt put you into ketosis, is it the lack of carbs in your diet that makes you ketotic? Do the chemists allow you have 2 lt shakes and meal?

Why don't you try CD hun...you can do various plans on is ss
+ you can either have 3 shakes and a meal or 2 shakes a meal and 200mls of ss milk (i think) and the flavours are wonderful xx
Slim fast are very high in sugar/carbs so i doubt it would put you into ketosis.
You caouls always try either atkins or southbeach if you can control food??

Already checked out the cd option, and there are no councellors near me, I have the southbeach book too just havent got around to reading it, I really do want to go back to doing tfr because I know the diet works and you see results fast, but am kind of a little worried about going back on it and I think thats partly why I caved in, I have lost a considerable amount of hair (on my head lol) over last 3-4wks and its still falling out post tfr, bit worried that if I do another stint of tfr my hair fall out a few wks after I come off the diet and will be needing a wig.

Ig its hair loss... any ketosis diet induces this...and its only hair you would have lost normally it does even itself out! I think you should go for it ... you wont regret it!!!
I feel fab and i have been told i look at least 5 yrs younger ( which is nice because it takes me back to 25 yay!!)

I'm with nic on this one. Any diet that induces ketosis is said to have an effect on hair loss so whilst it may be scary to think about it, as people have said (and the LT video states) hair does grow back properly. Up to you though hunny. I understand that I might view it differently if it were me losing my barnet xx

I've lost a lot of hair since starting LT but I did start with a thick mop! I have also been told I look younger, which at my age is sooooooooooooooo worth losing some hair for!

I've been told mine will grow back so I'm willing to put up with it to get to my target.

You can do this, you know you can, and you will get the results sooner than with any other diet. If you do restart then know we are all here for you.

Good luck.

x

I was on LT same times as you last time, lost nearly 2st.Back on now, nearly 4wks gone and it is certainly harder,I dont like the flapjacks or soup this time and the soup was my fave last time, strange isnt it!
I have hair loss but my hair is extremely thick so doesnt show much, its worrying for you but a short-term issue.Would you not give it another shot?

Hi Bindi!

How are you keeping??? I am hoping to go back on TFR on 1st Sept. But everyone seems to find it so mych harder second time around! I just found that not having to worry about food at all was the best thing ever the first time.

I am so bad with controlling my eating that it was easier not to eat. Hopin it will be the same this time. My sister is doing it with me this time. I would love to lose another 1.5 - 2 stone.

I've just read in this week's grazia that Atkins is back - new, improved and healthier. Seemingly some boffins have had second look and come up with the atkins plan where you can exercise to earn carbs - or something - and you will still be in ketosis?

Don't know if it's worth looking into - I could only bear to glance at it as don't really want to read about food at the mo ;)

Thx for all your replies, Thankfully I have loads of hair too (even though Ive lost a good bit - lol takes me less time to blowdry it now) so I dont anticipate going bald in the near future.
Gonna go back on tfr mid sept and give it another go, in the meantime Im gonnna try and shift a few pounds thru healthy eating and exercise.
Thx again
