Newbie bloke says belated "hi"

Hi all, :)

I've been doing the Cambridge Diet for two and a half weeks now, and just remembered today that I hadn't introduced myself to you all.

I'm 34, married and live in Southampton. I began my CD journey at 19st 5lbs towards the end of July and so far I have lost 16lbs and I am well pleased! I've spent roughly the last 11 years in an unhealthy weight range and had periods of success with both Slimming World and Weight Watchers (I also had an interesting 24 hours on Gillian McKeith's diet). I really love cooking (as well as eating) so thought I would find CD extremely hard from that point of view - yes, its a challenge but in fact I'm finding other things to do with the time I would normally have spent cooking! I think with all diets, the positives are there if you choose to notice them and that's true of my time on CD so far.

I would like to reach 14st 5lbs. Wait a minute - I am going to reach 14st 5lbs. :D

My wife has been doing CD with me too but I have a feeling this could be her last week on it, not the right plan for her for several reasons. She is probably going to do SW or WW instead as of next week, so I'll be cranking my will-power up by several notches once the house has food in it again (I must confess to drooling on more than one occasion during Week 1 as I opened a tin of dog food for my two dogs...:ashamed0005:).

Anyway, I'm pleased to meet you all! ;)

Hi Judders.

Well done on the weight loss thing. Please please tell me about the 24-hrs 'with' Gillian McKeith :D

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome - this is a friendly place indeed!

I have a cold at the moment (no, its not man-flu) so woke up early with a blocked nose / headache on Saturday morning and decided to see whats going on with Minimins! Its a bit quiet on here...funny that.

End of Week 3 weigh-in last night - another 6lbs off!!!! :character00238: Doing SS+ for couple of days as feeling rough and wobbly with this virus, but then SS after Sunday.

Hi Judders , keep that sence of humour going ok , we need it here lol
How are you finding CD , I guess its mind over matter , just find ways to out ride them feelings of craving something and your there . Good for you two guys your on the road to slimvalley

Thanks MsJMC, I'm finding CD pretty good actually, better than expected. My wife left yesterday (not me, she left CD!) and is now doing Diet Chef, her first box of stuff arrived yesterday - looks good.

I'm happy with CD though, and you're right about the mind over matter thing. Doing CD has highlighted so many "cravings" and knee-jerk reactions to life that used to involve food as a bit of a sticking plaster. Riding those cravings out is tough, but gets easier each time....so far (says he, with a grand total of three weeks' experience!!!).

Still drool when I open Pedigree Chum though.... :tear_drop:

Rabbit flavour especially.

Sick innit?!!

Haven't licked that fork yet.

Honest.

Diet Chef, her first box of stuff arrived yesterday - looks good. Let us whats in your wifes box , goodies ?

Its when you start eating the dog food lol

I have a Paul Mckenna book , he says ways in the book how to out ride your food cravings , like tapping the thought out and see how strong on a scale of 1-10 how you feel about it , also he says to think of the food you are craving covered in maggots , also think of that food your craving covered in a food you really hate , then think hopw strong your craving is , give it a go , anything for results lol

Well...

Its all good quality stuff as far as I can see, like decent 'ready meals' to which you can add certain vegetables if you like (not supplied). So far she has had granola+milk for breakfast, lunch is usually a soup (pea & ham smells nice, also beef & tomato). She can also eat fresh fruit on this (not supplied). Dinners have been chilli con carne (add your own rice, not included) and meatballs & sauce (again, add own pasta) - theres also a daily snack bar that seems to be fruit and muesli based.

Meanwhile, I'm 'eating' my CD stuff and quaffing gallons of water....

Hi Judders , sounds like a good diet all the right foods ! how are you getting on with CD ? and how much has your Wife got to lose ? at least you are both doing it together ! 22 lost its coming down , hey ... keep on shaking , have you had any bars yet ?

...how much has your Wife got to lose?

She wants to lose around 6 stone altogether; she's already lost 16lbs with CD.

...keep on shaking , have you had any bars yet ?

Oh yes - as soon as I was able to, I've had a bar a day! My faves are cranberry, malt toffee, peanut, orange.

Last night I decided to be adventurous and made a chocolate m-a-m mousse but as it was setting I stirred into it some of an orange CD bar chopped up into small bits. It was VERY sweet - but nice.

My CDC just gave me 2 samples of the new strawberry flavour tetra, that comes out in September. Will try that tomorrow.

Cheers,

Judders

ho you got some strawberry flavour ones the new ones , yes let us know what they are like . wow your wife did well on CD . 16 pounds .

sounds great , i really only make the packet of strawberry into a sponge , its really like cake mix when its done not so runny but then mirco it for say 1 min if its a powerful micro , then leave it to cool , thing is it don't last long , i do it on a plate and shape it like a big round circle .... your in it to win it !
