Hi I Just thought i'd intorduce myself i'm on day 5 and finding the diet o.k so far i've not cheated which I'm pleased about although I know its early days. I've got a few questions which i'm hoping you will be able to help me out with.
So far I've only been drinking 3-4 litres of water a day, is this too little? I see from a lot of your posts that a lot of you seem to be drinking 4 litres plus a day.
I'm doing 4 weeks of ss, but i'm going on holiday on the fifth week so i'm going to do an aam week. Has anybody got any tips for holiday eating?
Then as soon as i come back from holiday its my mums wedding. Has anybody got any tips for how they have successfully got through a big occasion and not put on weight?
Sorry for all the questions I just want to get it right this time. I need to lose 5 stone.

Hiya sorry i havent any advice for you as i have just been on ss for 3 weeks now and am gonna sick woth it as long as i can. But just wanted to hi and good luck u have done the hardest bit in the first few days way to go !!!!!!!!!!!

hiya and welcome! i am only on day 6 but here is my advice-
water: i am drinking 4.5l as that is what my CDC told me to do

holiday eating: i had some tips on another forum. most of them suggested ordering things like chicken salad, tuna steak salad etc and asking to have the dressing separate or not at all so you don't have to eat it. as long as you eat protein and not carbs you should be ok.

as for the big occasion, i haven't had to go through on yet. i guess you will have to stay strong and just think about your goal :) you'll do fine x

Hi and welcome to the Cambridge Diet! I am on Day 1 of Week 3, so have limited advice but hope it helps. By the way, I also want to lose around 5 stone, although to reach my "recommended" weight for my height I think it should be more like 6 or 7 stone!

As others have said, the advice regarding water seems to be "the more the better" but consider also how much water you used to drink per day before doing CD. What I mean is, if you didn't drink that much water before (like me) then start with the minimum recommended amount and then build it up gradually over and above that. I'm now drinking somewhere between 4-6 litres a day, as of Week 3. Prior to CD, I was pretty bad at keeping myself properly hydrated so it was a struggle at first to get 3 litres down me! Once you can use the flavourings, they really help if you're getting bored of plain water.

I had a buffet situation this week while away from home and I "had to" eat things from it because I'd left my tetra-brik out of the fridge (oops), so couldn't have that (not nice warm ). So, the buffet....I had two chicken drumsticks (without skin), little salad (radish, celery, lettuce, cucumber - NO dressing!!!) and a tablespoon of tuna (NO mayo!!!). I got weighed last night and had lost 6lbs, so I know that I would eat the same again in a buffet-related emergency situation.

I'd have a chat with your CDC about the wedding for some ideas for working around what is on offer, or perhaps about getting suggestions for planning ahead and requesting something just for you (protein and allowed veg, no carb).

Good luck!

J

Welcome Jen!

Definitely through the hardest part, just got to stay on focus. I don't have any advice for dealing with things like weddings or birthdays but being on SS for a month should get you in the right frame of mind.

3-4 litres of water is fine, if you can manage more then great but if not then its cool. I find water can alleviate a lot of the side effects that CD gives you.

Good luck

Martin
