How i stopped compulsive, emotional & binge eating my story, just wanted to share :)

Make a plan, deep breath
Hi everyone, my name is Daisy and recently here on minimins i've noticed a fair amount of discussion about emotional and compulsive eating which is something i suffered from in a HUGEEE way from about the age of 13 up to 17 (my age now). I am making this post because i wanted to share how i did it with anyone who is interested but please understand that i'm really not trying to preach or put anybody off their diets at all!!
Ok so a few months ago i was watching an episode of Supersize vs Superskinny on channel 4 and the reporter who each week tried different various weight drop methods, saw a hypnotherapist called Marisa Peer and it really seemed to work for her. Then a few days later i was reading my copy of Elle magazine and there was an article about Marisa Peer again, which proved to stop the writer eating a)too much food and b)crap food
So i googled her for a while, saw she had a book and decided that i had nothing to loose - i was already an 11 and a bit stone teenager (who carried it v badly) with zero self confidence, who binged regularly and whenever i felt any extreme emotion or was bored or felt i 'deserved' a treat.
Ok i'm rambling so i'm gonna cut to the chase, the book arrived from amazon and within the first two weeks the weight began to steadily fall off & more importantly i was in control of what when and how i ate which i never thought could really happen to me. I was sooo sceptical that some cheesy self help type book would actually work but i guess i was wrong
& now i'm well on my way to my ideal weight and i know i can do it!:D

If anyone is interested here is the link to
her website
& the amazon page with other reviews
& another forum (don't worry my heart lies here at minimins) where someone else explains it much more coherently than me!! lol

I hope this helps & let me know if you decide to try it, i'd love to chat to someone about it

Thanks, Daisy xx

Hi and thanks Daisy :)

Lacey..xx :)

I've heard good things about the Marisa Peer book and CD and I think we have had a couple of members use her 'method'

Isn't she the hypnotist from the Biggest loser programme? Only watched a couple of them, but the name rings a bell.

Oooh that's spooky - I did a search on here for Marisa Peer as I wanted to share my story, and I found it and posted. Now I'm reading through other posts I found you've done the same!

I'm now 12lbs lighter asof this morning having read the book and I don't for one minute feel I'm on a 'diet' as I can still go out, socialise, and be 'normal'. This has actually addressed my problems as I had deeper underlying issues with controlling the amount I ate, which is why all the diets I've tried worked for me like others, but then I'd put it all back on and more. As you said Daisy, this is absolutely no bad thing against any other diet as they all work if you're mind is set, but my mind never was! ;)

Well done you, and well done everyone in every forum on here for finding their own little place of happiness and support.

I'll update here again in a few weeks to see if Marisa is still working her magic on me! :D:D

Oooh yay another convert! I'm so happy that it seems to be working for you Loopy Lou that's fab!:party0049::party0049:
There was a while where i went a bit off track, stopped exercising and wheat crept back into my eating habits, but it was triggered by quite a few major events one after the other. So i basically went through the whole process again and here i am and it's all going smoothly
Have you seen her blog? it has loads of really yummy recipes and meal ideas YOU CAN BE THIN ©

Let us know how you get on Lou - i can pretty much guarantee it will be easy!!:D:D

Ooh no, I hadn't read the blog before. Looooooads of recipes and ideas in there. Thanks for the link :D

I think as Marisa herself says, you don't have to deprive yourself and can have these things occasionally, so I wouldn't be too harsh on yourself for having a 'blip'. The most important thing is that you're back on track. I went out for a Chinese meal with friends last week which was quite difficult, but the main differences I noticed were that I picked the stir fry options rather than the deep fried chilli beef (which I normally do!) and I stopped when I'd had enough rather than picking and having 3rd and 4th helpings. This is unheard of for me! So even though I had what might be seen as a 'naughty' meal, I thoroughly enjoyed eating differently (only had 1 prawn cracker too!) and enjoyed each mouthful. I didn't leave stuffed, and I was back onto fruit and salads etc the next day. It certainly didn't affect my weight loss.

Good luck - I'll keep you updated and I hope you do the same.

L xx
