hi everyone,
as many of you know i recently adopted 4 rescued battery hens.
as promised i have now posted a few pics of the herby girls settling into their new, happier lifestyle. :) the first pic is poor rosemary last week when we first got them. the second shows rosemarys poor plucked neck.
the third shows the home and our inquisitive cat having a nosey at the new arrivals. and then yesterday as they free ranged around the garden.
as u can see the dog has taken to them like a duck to water :)

cheryl i am so jealous i really wish i had chickens!! it must feel great to know you have rescued them

hi hanlo and abigail.
they are settling in wonderfully.
they free range daily and now eat corn from our hands ( although asking them to do it gently has no effect, lol)
we seem to get an average of one egg a day at the moment but we got two this morning :).
it can take them a while to settle down and start laying regularly but i dont mind one bit. im loving their company and watching them go berserk when they find a worm in the open garden is so satisfying.
i enjoy corn on the cob but i swear ive NEVER enjoyed one as much as they enjoy the ones i hang in the run :D

thank you tina, it feels wonderful to be around them :)

Good luck with the chucks x

OMG you amazing person! Saving their little lives and giving them an amazing home!! Kudos to you and keep us up to date :) xxx

They look like they are going to be very happy with you Cheryl...think you have them spoilt already:D

Imagine having your very own free range eggs:wow:

I look forward to seeing how they look in a few weeks time...wonder will their feathers grow back?

Love Mini xxx

ty Blue and mini,
they are very much spoilt already.
my dog has also decided she likes corn.... but only cause the chickens get it. lol
their feathers will grow back within a few months of healthy living and the lack of cramped space.
parsley was the first one to open up her wings and she frightened the others and herself in doing so.
they have never had the space to do such things in the past.
i LOVE having them about and will willingly share the experience and future pictures with everyone :D
i can honestly say ive never had nicer eggs. the yolks are sooooo bright yellow (almost orange):)

Sooooooo jealous! Ha ha

I'm sure they are going to have a fantastic life now you have them Cheryl
