Dress sizes

I am not sure if this question has been asked anywhere before,(had a look and couldn't find it) but
What sort of rate do people find they go down in dress size compared to weight loss?
I am getting fustrated cause I have lost nearly a stone but still am the same size as before

It took two stones for me to shift a dress size. I then lost another two stones and the next size didn't drop! I do believe another half a stone would do it for me. People are all different and I think it depends on how much you have to lose.

Thanks Shazpaz :) I was hoping a was going to be one of the quicker size drops ( I want to go shopping) but I guess I will just have to carry on and wait.

I've lost 17lbs so far but still wearing pre-diet clothes. They're getting a bit loose though so hopefully shouldn't be too long before I'm down a size.

I took my measurements before I started - still wearing the same clothes although very loose. I'm waiting to buy new ones until I'm much closer to target.

i've lost 18lbs and my size 20s now look ridiculous on me... but so do size 18s... not a flattering look, ha. so i'm waiting to fit into them....

abz xx

Apparently smaller sizes are closer together than larger sizes.
E.g. size 22-20 may require 2 stone, but 14-12 (for me) required just over a stone :)

Ive lost three stone and gone from a 22/24 to a 16/18 xxx

Just had a moment of happy, I was sorting through my wardrobe... like a lot of people I hang onto clothes that are too small, 'just in case'! So I found some jeans that were more 14/16, and as a 16/18 I really couldn't get away with them. And I thought I'd just give them a try... I'm now wearing them, with a belt! They are too big!:party0011:

wow well done hazelnut! im a size 12 ive been a size 12 for over a year now i used to be a size 10 :/ so im trying to get to a 10 again ive lost a stone but feel like ive lost hardly any weight and cant fit into a 10 yet.

Thanks :)

I didn't really notice much change in my size till I'd lost more than a stone either. Now I can see there is a difference, but so far no-one has noticed! Not even when I wore my smaller jeans, which to me made a noticeable difference

I'm still bubbling over with happiness about it, people must be wondering why!

aww well people have noticed with me even though my clothes size is the same but maybe they only noticed because i told them i was on a diet. im also terrible with clothes because i keep buying new clothes i keep telling myself wait but that doesnt work and im not one of those people who buy the next size down so i can slim into it. that would just dipress me in the meantime.

Oh, I definitely wouldn't buy them the next size down, that's just depressing like you say! Also how will you know if they'll suit the smaller you?

I've been buying myself new clothes in my current size, even though I have no money and fully expect them to be too big soon. I guess because of the diet I feel more like taking care of myself and how I look.

Hi,

I have lost three stone and suddenly its getting noticeable as getting into older, smaller clothes. Probably gone from a 20 (can hardly bring myself to type it) to a 16. I haven't been buying new cos got some stuff to shrink into.

If you haven't tho I would really recommend getting some bits that fit. I'm usually an I will wait til I lose weight first person but I've really noticed how much better I am feeling, and as my clothes fit, rather than hanging off me my weight loss is more noticeable. Its great I have found a bit of vanity again after years, so would really recommend a few clothes that fit as you go along x

I've lost 2 stone and only gone down 1 dress size. A friend has lost just over a stone and gone down 2 sizes, but she's smaller than me and does a lot of exercise.

I think that is true... I was wearing my pre-diet jeans for ages, and they still fit but in a different, baggier way than they used to. But as soon as I tried on the smaller jeans which were by then a better fit, the weight loss became much more apparent to me. I actually felt a bit insulted that no-one noticed!

This time round I haven't lost enough yet to notice.....only in week one but the last time I dieted (oh yes there have been many!!) I dropped 2 and a half stone and almost (zip under strain!) 2 dress sizes......doubt that will happen again though!

Someone at my slimming class has dropped 3 and half stone and gone from a 20 to a 12!!!! How lucky is she!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
