I'm so disappointed...

I don't know if I can carry on with SSing much longer, I have been 100% sticking to it and drinking between 3/4 litres water, between last weigh in day, Thursday and Sunday I had lost 3.5lbs, great I thought on track for a good week and I felt on top of the world, this morning, thursday, my weigh in day I stepped on the scales and I have only lost 1.5lbs, somehow I have put back on 2lbs!!!!!!! no it's not TOTM and the scales are good digital ones, I am so disappointed, I am struggling to pay for cambridge and justify it by my quick losses so far but why has it stopped working for me?
Sorry, early morning rant over with, I'm going away to cry and be depressed at work all day:(

HI ayembee
Can you be more specific on these 'weigh-ins'? You lost 3.5lb on your CDC's scales on your official weigh in? And then you checked again a few days later on your own scales and had seemingly 'gained' 2lb?

I can't stress enough the reason why it's just not a good idea to keep checking your weight at home between official weigh-ins. If this is what's happened, then just look what it's done for you. I did EXACTLY the same thing and was on the verge of throwing the towel in and giving up: I posted something similar to you on here in fact.

But someone calmed me down and pointed out the mechanics of the diet: your body NEEDS approx 2000 cals per day - correct?
You are GIVING it around 500 cals per day - correct?
There is approx a 1500 cal deficit - correct?

Then your body CANNOT gain fat - it MUST lose fat (unless you are the one person in 6 billion on the face of the planet whose body doesn't operate like everyone else's!)

It's likely to be water retention (that happens for reasons other than TOTM). Imagine this .... you are holding an armful of lard - weigh yourself. Then get off the scales, put the lard down and pick up two large bottles of water. Now weigh yourself again.

Have you lost weight? Probably not much .... have you lost fat? Hell yes!!

You are doing great Ayembee so don't lose heart - carry on and I bet your average weight loss over the month bears witness to the fact the diet is working.

And stop weighing yourself at home!! (let someone look after your scales until the diet is finished and get them back for maintaining!)

Sending hugs your way :)

Morning Ayembee
Know how you feel babe but as has already been said
All scales are diffrent,I always way diffrent on my ones to my CDCs ones.
Doing SS 100% you have to lose weight
Water retention plays a big part
Our bodies do silly things at times
If you have done 100% SS you must have lost fat
Hopefully you will have a nice loss on your CDCs scales,if not then carring on doing 100% and you should have a great loss next week.
We all have weeks where we lose less
Keep positive babe
{{{HUGS}}}

I agree with everything Libbie and Russiandoll have said, but must add one thing.

I am confused that you're finding CD expensive. At less than £2 per meal it must be the cheapest diet you've ever been on (assuming you're sole sourcing honestly, of course). It's certainly the cheapest I've ever been on. Many diets expect you to go out and buy expensive cuts of meat and fish and come up with elaborate fandangled recipes - this diet is both simple and cheap.

Perhaps if you're struggling to find a month's cost all at once, you could break it down and buy it weekly or fortnightly!

Just a thought!

Hi hun, just popping in to nod my head in agreement with what has already been said, if you are ssing then you are losing fat!
Our bodies are funny old machines and can hold on to water for a million reasons, not just TOTM, so try not to panic, you will be losing fat and eventually the water will be released and you will be on here posting again about how glad you are that you didn't give up!

I can understand the cost issues especially if you are also having to buy regular groceries for your family, but hun it will be soooo worth it in the end, cheer up babe, tomorrow is another day!

(((HUGS))) xx

Hi there

Don't give up, like the others have said, you will lose fat if you're SSing. Our bodies never comply properly though and like to go up & down a bit on the scales for all sorts of reasons, just hang on till your next weigh in & remember that a small loss one week will show the following.

Get past this blip & by the end of the month you'll be glad you did.

((((Hugs))))

Honestly.... what everyone else says is completely right. To be honest, I'd be gutted too - so I don't have scales in my house - they just act as another voice in my head to join the entire united nations of chatterboxes in there telling me bad things.

A girl in my group lost 12lbs at drop in and then at WI 3 days later had "gained" 2lbs - but it was basically just from the enormous amounts of water she had drunk. It was gone AND more the following WI!

Ignore the numbers, look at the science and visualise yourself shrinking - because that's what you're doing in reality! :)

Don't give up, you are not failing on this diet.
I have noticed big differences between my home weighings and official CDC ones. I weigh first thing in the morning, without clothes. My weight is therefore at its lowest and most consistent. My CDC weighs me clothed in the evening. My weight can fluctuate a lot then, depending on how recently I have drunk my water, eaten etc.
Just keep in mind that, unless you have a thyroid problem or other medical condition which slows your metabolism, it is IMPOSSIBLE not to lose weight on this diet, your intake is only 500 kcal per day so you cannot help but lose. The good and bad weeks will average out.

Please dont give up didnt you know THOSE FLIPPING SCALES ARE IN ON IT WITH YOUR CHATTERBOX!!!!!! HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THEY GOT THE BETTER OF YOU????????
I KNOW HOW YOUR FEELING ,LIFE IS HARD ON A VLCD AS WE HAVENT GOT THE FOOD TO TURN TO AS OUR EMOTIONAL CRUTCH SO WE FEEL OUR EMOTIONS SO MUCH MORE...........PLEASE GIVE IT A DAY OR 2 AND STICK AT IT AS CHRISTMAS IS JUST 39 DAYS AWAY NOW............I HAVE HAD ALOT OF BAD DAYS AND I KNOW HOW YOUR FEELING BUT IT WILL PASS....IF YOU NEED TO WEIGH YOURSELF(FROM ONE SCALES ADDICT) THEN JUST DO IT 1ST THING IN THE MORNING AND THATS IT WRITE IT DOWN AND JUST USE IT AS A GUIDE AS TO WHAT YOUR BODY DOES?THEN USE YOUR OFFICAL WEEKLY WEIGH-N AS THE REAL ONE!!!!

Have you measured yourself??? - sometimes seeing the inches disappear helps.

Have you been doing any extra exercise?? This can make muscle and muscle weighs heavier than fat.

As everyone else says you can not fail to lose weight on a VLCD if you stick to it.

Please don't give up ..... and try ringing your CDC for an explanation and support. (((HUGS)))

Beverley makes a very valid point, on the weeks where you seem to get a dissappointing loss always measure yourself. Hope you are feeling a bit more confident in your diet now hun xx

Hope you're feeling heaps better now Ayembee... can't add much to what's already been said except to endorse the measuring thing... you'll be amazed at how the inches have gone! Ditch the scales at home too... nasty things... they lie!! ;) Take care and hope you feel more positive real soon chuck.

Thanks everyone for your supportive comments, much appreciated xx
I am feeling better (ish) now and will keep going at least until xmas is over.
I weigh myself most mornings, first thing, no clothes etc and what my scales say on a thursday morning is what counts not my cdc's, my scales are better than hers!

I have no criticism of my cdc she's a lovely girl but I look on her as my 'supplier' of cambridge products and thats all, If I could just buy it all from a shop I would do. I come on here for info and support same as everyone else, and I'd be lost without it.

The only thing I have done differently this week is had phylisum husks on about five out of seven days, without much 'movement' I have to say! so maybe it's weighing me down,

My losses over the last 3 weeks total about 6.5lbs and if the average over a month is 14lbs, mine are quite a bit below.
Thanks for trying to cheer me up though, I am on AAM from tomorrow so maybe that will give my body a boost and get things moving xxxxxxxxxx:rolleyes:

That's the spirit Ayembee!!! :D :D
