CRAMP!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ok I posted about this a couple of weeks ago, but the problem seems to have escalated!!!

Woke up at 3am this morning with the worst cramp of my life. It was in my left calf and was so bad that after managing to straighten my leg, my foot was completely stuck with my big toes pointed. The whole muscle was in such bad spasm I was literally stuck, and couldnt pull my toes back to release the cramp like I normally would!

It was absolute agony, and went on for nearly 20 minutes!!!!! Eventually I managed to stand on it and limp to the bathroom (was desperate for a pee!) and it finally let up, but was still so painful

Managed to limp down to the kitchen and microwave a heat pad to whack on it, which helped a bit, but still painful today :(

Anyone ANY bright ideas on how I can prevent this? I hate it :( I take Quinine tablet before bed, sleep with a heat pad on my leg, have plenty of water during the day etc, but I am still getting them sometimes and they are getting worse :jelous:

make sure you don't drink too much honey. and was it tonic water that people drank before bed? i think it was... hope it gets better soon...

abz xx

Havent had tonic water 1)because i hate it 2)because i dont know how it will affect CD?

I don't get cramp but I am finding that I get pins and needles in my lower legs/feet quite a bit, which I figured was part of Ketosis and my CDC said my feet may feel cold. I like to go one further than cold tho and have pins and needles.

BB I think it was you who posted earlier you do SS one day and 810 the next and sort of mix and match am I right? It could be your body is confused and the throughput of liquid in the body has been disturbed as you are messing around with your metabolism and the programmes.

If it was you I suggest you do 810 for the next week. CD do suggest 1 glass of slimline tonic water before bed as it can help.

If it wasn't you apologies but the bit above about the slimline tonic applies.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hey CDC - no wasnt me who posted about doing SS/810 alternate days - I am SS 100% (bar 1 catastrophic night off never to be repeated) and have been for over a month now

Could the cramps be as a result of my "binge" last thursday? Am I still getting rid of the nastiness in my body from that day?

Sorry has read so many posts today.

It could be due to last Thursday and your body is going through the initial stages again. As said earlier this could affect the throughput of liquid in the body.

Too much water can cause cramps also as if you lose too much potassium this is a side effect.

The tonic water works but its only a glass at bedtime not all the time.

Hope it sorts itself out I get cramp and its soooooooooo painful.

This was by far the worst I have had. Will have to buy some tonic water bleurgh!

I have a friend doing CD and she was getting cramp everyday, She started taking 'Crampex' (from the pharmacy) and it worked a treat.

I used to get cramp if I drank more than 5.5 ltrs of water, especially if I didnt space it out as well as I should. I always felt best on 4 to 5 ltrs.

How much water do you drink??

Crampex are brilliant, but make sure there is no proper cause for it first.

ummm i drink closer to 3litres :D

Hi BB - there's no point buying tonic water (which you hate in any case!) because you're using quinine tablets already.

Get Crampex, and see what happens then.

2.25 to 4 litres of water is about right, unless you're very active or the weather is very hot.

I do sympathise - I get it most nights, and can't work out why. Let us know what happens.

I had it whilst ssing too. I found that a cup of buillion a day (ie a bit of added salt) relieved the cramp. Our nerves need a certain amount of salt to function properly (but not too much!).

i had Cramp in my Calf every night for the first 3 days of SS just last week and i was in tears never been in so much pain in my life and it was always about 5-6am nearly gave my other half a heart attack .

luckily have not had it again only been 5 days but glad and hope it does not happen again xxxx i feel you pain babe xx

Thanks guys. Will get some crampex i think, give that a go. See if that makes a difference!

Oh leg cramps are soooo annoying aren't they? I was put on Quinine about a year ago due to regular cramps at night though I still get the odd one every month or two. I get out of bed and stand on the floor and it goes away thankfully. No idea why it happens, would love to know. Might be a side effect of my meds or something.
